Review: Dinah Jane Drops Sultry Debut EP

Everyone knows Dinah Jane from pop group 'Fifth Harmony' but she is surely creating a path for herself.

"Dinah Jane 1" is the sultry, debut EP released under L.A. Reid's HitCo record label. The wait was absolutely worth it as her last release was in 2018 with her debut single "Bottled Up" featuring Marc. E Bassy and Ty Dolla $ign. The track reached over 15 million streams on Spotify and the music video has over 10 million views.

The EP has an old school R&B vibe which I absolutely love and shows off her more vulnerable side. "Pass Me By" is a slow, melancholy track over a smooth production that has the vocalist singing about a possible lover with at least an hour in bliss.

"Fix It" is a confessional song and hits deep when listening to the lyrics. "I'm trying my best to let this come off right/ But I know, it's gonna hurt you even if I try/ Here I go, I'm over faking everything's alright/ But you know, you know, yeah/ There is no room for me in this home/ So I go dim myself cause it's all I know/ How it feels for you to finally know/ You know, you know, yeah." Family issues are always a hard topic to open up about and I applaud her for being openly honest with her listeners and fans. This will be one that many can relate to in one way or another.

The final track featured is titled "Heard It All Before" which dives into hearing the same old excuses. "'Cause I heard it all before/ Can't live without me/ Yeah I heard it all before/ "Girl, you're all I need/ Boy I heard it all before/ So save yo energy/ For the next bi*ch/ Cause she ain't me," she goes off in the chorus.

Personally, I think these tracks are a lot better than "Bottled Up" was. The EP shows off Jane's true potential and we have a lot to look forward to. Be sure to stream/purchase "Dinah Jane 1" here.
