Sydney Symphony Orchestra Launches New Partnership With Abercrombie & Kent

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra's Bart k's Concerto for Orchestra performance at the Sydney Opera House on Wednesday 13 February marked the launch of a new partnership with luxury travel experts Abercrombie & Kent.

Speaking about the first Abercrombie & Kent Masters Series sponsored concert, Regional Managing Director of Australia and Asia Pacific Sujata Raman highlighted the strong alignment between the luxury travel brand and Australia's premier orchestra.

We are delighted to be embarking on a new multi-year partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, a move which celebrates both organisations' passion for excellence, inspiring experiences, and transporting, in all senses of the word, audience and guests to other worlds, said Raman.

Abercrombie & Kent believes in truly great travel. Like great music, travel allows us to see ourselves and others through a news lens, in a new light, bring new perspectives and enrich lives. We're looking forward to sharing the Sydney Symphony Orchestra experience with more Abercrombie & Kent travellers, and the Abercrombie & Kent experience with more Sydney Symphony Orchestra audience and supporters.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra CEO Emma Dunch welcomed the partnership with the luxury travel group.

People come from all over the world to join the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and experience music with us in our home, the iconic Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, said Dunch.

Through international and regional tours, we have shared music in some of the most beautiful halls worldwide and met music-lovers across the globe. We've experienced first-hand music's ability to transcend different cultures, to bring people together and to take us on wonderful journeys. Abercrombie & Kent's passion for travel in the pursuit of inspiring experiences is a perfect alignment with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and we are proud to welcome them as our official Masters Series sponsors."

Started in 1962 by founder, chairman and CEO Geoffrey Kent, Abercrombie & Kent has offered its guests inspirational travel experiences around the world for nearly 60 years. With more than 2500 employees in 55 offices and 30 countries, the luxury travel brand is uniquely positioned to offer extraordinary travel experiences to discerning travellers right across the globe.

The Orchestra's Bart k's Concerto for Orchestra program featured music from different corners of the world, including Czech composer Leo Jan ek's Taras Bulba, Hungarian composer B la Bart k's Concerto for Orchestra, and the Australian premiere of Music for Ensemble and Orchestra, written by American composer Steve Reich and co-commissioned by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with several international orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and Baltic Sea Philharmonic. The program will also be performed on 15 and 16 February at the Sydney Opera House.

In 2020, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Abercrombie & Kent will announce a travel prize draw which will be open to concert subscribers.
