Brandenburg Quartet To Hit The Road For National Tour

The Brandenburg Quartet, formed in 2016, is about to hit the road for its third and biggest national tour in April taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and this time adding a Queensland leg with a concert at The Old Museum in Brisbane.

A brave and brilliant new addition to the Australian music landscape, the quartet comprises the four principal string players of the multi ARIA Award-winning Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, hailing from Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

Together they perform well-loved quartets of the classical repertoire as well as brilliant works by composers rarely heard today. Like the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, they are unique in that they play on instruments of the period using gut strings, rather than modern steel or nylon strings.

The members of the quartet are all at the forefront of period instrument playing in Australia and, like the greatest string quartets, their close personal and professional relationships give them a particular edge.

"We have played together and been extremely close friends for many years," says Shaun. "We have a special dynamic and love being and playing together. This means that we bring to the stage something which is unique and personal."
