Super Bowl Sunday

I am going to assume that the majority of people who regularly post on BWW are not sports fans. While over 100 million people will watch the pre-game and the actual game, how do the rest of you spend Super Bowl Sunday (my wife loves the Puppy Bowl)? For those of you that like sports, what ae your favorite snack/drinks to have while watching the game? Does Taylor Swift being shown on the games annoy you or do you think it is cool. Who do you think will win?

I will list my favorites. I normally will have "Blue Moon" beer and the snacks are nachos, chips/onion dip, cheese and crackers and mini hot dogs. If I decide not to drink beer, I will make myself a couple of margaritas on the rocks (with salt on rim). The Taylor Swift stuff is a little annoying, but I get why it is done. I think KC will win but rooting for SF.

*** Funny note*** In 2020 the same two teams played in the Super Bowl and it looks like we will have the same two nominees running for POTUS.

Football is not my thing.  Have never attended a game, and have only watched bits and pieces of games on TV.  That includes the Super Bowl.  BUT, will be watching this Sunday because they are playing in VEGAS, BABY !  Looking forward to seeing up-close views of Allegiant Stadium.  Determined to see the entire thing from pre-game to post-game stuff.  Taylor Swift could NEVER annoy me.  Who will win?  San Francisco 49ers because I'm a Californian (in truth, I had to google which teams are competing).

We are vegans, so for snacks we are having veggies, vegan crackers, humus and guacamole.  Vegan cookies.  Iced team with lemon.

Go team!

Allegiant Stadium looks gorgeous on TV, and I will actually be there in November. My surprise anniversary present to my wife is taking her to see Billy Joel/Sting concert in November. She likes Billy Joel but loves Sting -lol. I have enough miles to fly both of us there for free, just got to figure the hotel to stay at for the trip.

Enjoy the game and your snacks!!!

I, for one, am also a BIG-TIME sports fan and I have watched a nice amount of NFL football this year.

I’m going with the Chiefs. San Fran has a good roster (and Purdy has been brilliant) but they’re unfortunately not winning anything with Shanahan.

I don't know how familiar you are with Vegas or its hotels, but we always stay in a "King Fountain View Room" at the Bellagio on the strip.  Perfect view of the fountain show below, and the music is piped in to your room through your TV.  Depending on your perspective and/or budget, the Bellagio can be a bit pricey, especially during certain times of the year.  If you sign up for their MGM Rewards, there is a room discount and no obligation.  If you sign up for the Rewards program before you start searching rooms online, it will show you discounted prices.

If you decide for or against the Bellagio, consider having a romantic anniversary dinner at one of their many restaurants.  Some offer fountain views from inside or on their patio.  Please click below, scroll down to "Fountain View Dining," click and watch the very brief video.  Do you see you and your wife clinking champagne glasses?

HG - thanks for the advice. It is a bit pricey on the days we will be there, probably due to being over a weekend. I don't know if the concert has an effect on the prices that weekend. I did not sign up for the rewards yet but will check it out and see how much of a discount you get. I could spend more than normal because the airfare is basically free. Like you said, it seems that even if I don't stay there dinner at one of those restaurants would be wonderful celebration of the occasion. Once again, thanks.

The other recommendations for hotels would be Mandalay Bay or Luxor which have a walkway between them directly to Allegiant. Slightly further walks, but still not terrible, would be New York New York (rooms were recently renovated and I’ve heard good things), or Park MGM, which has the added benefit of being the only resort on the Strip that is entirely smoke free, both the casino and the rooms.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like being able to walk to the stadium for the concert and really like Park MGM having a total smoke free environment. I sometimes get really bad headaches if I am in smoke filled area.

It looks like the point spread will stay with SF being a 2 1/2 pt favorite. It is amazing how many things that happen that day you can place a wager on. You can bet whether the national anthem will be over or less than 2 minutes. The best bet may be the coin toss, 50-50 chance of winning -lol. There is even a bet on how many times Taylor Swift will be on camera.

I believe the hype/pregame starts at noon for 6:30 pm kickoff. I ignore most of the hype and turn the game on at 6PM.

And a bet on the color of lipstick she will wear.  Seriously.

Morning news says Super Bowl LVIII will be the largest single event in Vegas history.

I don't follow the teams except my two "home" teams. Neither are playing so I have it on for the commercials. Always love to watch them and they are pretty good this year.  As most of us know, the Wicked Teaser dropped in the 1st quarter. Also looks like Beyonce' dropped 2 new songs after her commercial during the second half. And as I am typing they are showing the hysterical T-Mobile wi-fi commercial.

I also watch for the Half Time show. It was ok this year.

Just give the world Love.

Very enjoyable day/evening. My company requested we start off with margaritas at 6pm and it went well with the chili my nephew brought to my house. I was a part time bartender many years ago and will say a make an excellent margarita and don't use a mix. After that we moved on to beer which I had stacked a cooler with several brands on ice. My nephew's young son came, he is 12 and he was happy with Sprite. He is off from school tomorrow so he could stay up late. Had the snacks I mentioned previously, and my wife made a cake if we wanted dessert.

Vegas looks good on TV and so did the stadium, bet the Super Bowl will be back there again in a few years. The game was fairly dull the first half but picked up drama later with game going to OT (Chiefs won 25-22). Usher is not my thing musically but others at my house enjoyed him. Commercials were ok but thought the Uber one was lame especially the part with Jennifer Anniston. For Broadway fans it was nice to see trailer for "Wicked" movie coming out in November. Taylor Swift was shown several times, but it was not overboard.

My wife left the house to spend the evening with my daughter, they both have no interest in football. My wife likes baseball, and my daughter likes tennis so no interest in the game. Think they watched the "Puppy Bowl" and a movie.

That wraps it up for me, hope everyone enjoyed what they chose to do this Sunday. Bet the TV numbers will be awesome.

It was a great game, despite my wanting to projectile vomit at the ending.

I hate the Chiefs, but I will give (most of) them their props. At this point, I think you have to give serious consideration to Patrick Mahomes being the greatest to ever play the game. The way he methodically just carves these games out rivals even Brady.

Hats off to 'em.

I don’t begrudge anybody the pleasure and quality family time it gave them, but to me the whole thing was obscenely boring. Including Usher. For Taylor Swift to take a private jet all the way from Tokyo, stay for nine hours to see her BF win the Super Bowl, then fly straight back to the other side of the planet was a new low in privilege.
