When is the renovation supposed to be complete? Excited to revisit The Palace after this behemoth of an undertaking. Rumor I heard was Gaga as well but any of the 3 would be amazing.
Yes, and...? That isn't going to stop it from happening nor would it keep them from selling out and making a bucket of money too."
What might seem like a 'bucket of money" to you, is hardly going to be a bucket of money compared to what these stars could make performing in a much bigger venue with much fewer dates. If the opening act of the Palace does end up being a 'superstar' performer, you can bet they are doing this for prestige, with financial considerations being secondary.
It also wouldn't surprise me if we get a performer like Streisand or Gaga doing just a week or two of concerts. I'd be surprised if it were anything like a Vegas residency.

If they're looking to reopen in the spring, a 4-week run could be squeezed in nicely between March 30 and May 17 when she's off from her Vegas residency, or else after June 15, when it ends, but, if it's true, that 6-week gap in April/May seems awfully convenient.
I'd rather see Barbra, but Adele would be a huge get.
I heard that Adele only agreed to the Vegas residency because she can fly home to LA every night so not sure a month in NYC would suit her.
I don't think Adele jumps to Broadway after doing her show in Vegas for a year. I'll bet it's Gaga.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Like I said earlier in the thread, she has a 6-week+ gap in her Vegas schedule from March 30 to May 17, which would work with the rumored 4-week engagement and spring reopening.

She may just want a break instead of running to New York for a short, Broadway run.

Sure, it could be a vacation, but her 2024 dates were just announced 3 weeks ago, so my point is that the break might have been scheduled specifically for the Palace gig. It's still just a rumor, but the timing and length of the gap do work perfectly with that rumor.
Adele does two shows a week in Las Vegas. Just TWO SHOWS. That'd be twelve shows over six weeks, just eight over four. Broadway shows do in a week what Adele does in a month. Also, shows in Las Vegas tend to be much shorter. I'm not sure how long Adele's is, but Broadway audiences will expect Broadway lengths. She is not a fan of live performing, and probably only does it for the big bucks. She hates touring.
I can't see it happening.

Now "Tammy Faye" has been announced to open at The Palace in November. The stories about Barbra reopening The Palace for a long term residency, were just that. Stories.
Barbra Streisand is over 80-years-old and tried getting out of doing Funny Girl on Broadway when she was 21. She gets bored with doing the same performance night after night, and separately has stage fright. If she wanted money from performing, she can still fill up or near fill up arenas like the Barclays Center.
I'm not sure what about playing venues with less than 2,000 seats would appeal to her.
She hasn't appeared on Broadway in nearly 60 years. Obviously that's not happening at the Palace Theatre, but more to the point she's not coming back to Broadway period.

Right, and I'm sure she means it. But the last time she went on tour, she did it to buy a Amedeo Modigliani painting. It wouldn't shock me if she ended up singing in public again for a similar specific reason.
Why Ben? Surprised Nederlander chose him and not a Star-Celebrity to reopen the Palace? Yea, he's a Broadway baby but he barely filled MSG and prior The Beacon last go around. Was expecting a Star!

Sunday in the Park with George
This is kind of what I was thinking: he didn’t sell out MSG (and I understand that there were heavy discounts) so how could he sell a residency at one of the biggest venues on Broadway?
