Hello Everyone,

My niece is 20 years old and was originally moving to the neighborhood of the 92nd Street Y in New York City this fall. Her plans have just changed and she is now moving to East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I am just being an overcautious uncle and wanted to know if this is a safe neighborhood for her to move into. Please give me any of your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your response TotallyEffed (great screen name). I loved Spring Awakening!

Does anyone else have any thoughts or suggestions? They are all greatly appreciated!

What street will she be on? That’s primarily an industrial area that could be a little more deserted at night. Also, if she’s closest to the L train she’ll have to be prepared for the delays that will come from the work being done.

Oh, and if she’s in ZIP code 11211 then she’s in the middle of the measles outbreak.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I'm not sure what street she will be on but I do know she will be taking the L train everyday.

Thanks everyone for your responses. My niece moved in a few weeks ago and is doing great. She loves where she lives and loves her job 35th Street in Manhattan. Thanks again!
