Rupaul appeared on "The View" this morning to discuss his upcoming talk show premiering June 10 on the politically incorrect FOX network stations. He gave the same, tired "let me please everyone all the time" talk that he has been giving lately. Being someone who has seen him and followed since the very beginning, I find myself to becoming less interested in anything that he does. I feel that once "Drag Race" changed networks from Logo to VH1, he has become more placating and more of a sellout. I find this very disappointing considering how much of a fan I have been since he started. Has anyone else noticed this change in him or is it just me?
I think he has been like this for years. Good for him for mainstream success coming his way. However, he has let the money and success go to his head. I knew him from the club days back in Atlanta, which was really the beginning of his journey. Although a fan, I kind of lost respect for him when he was really brutal with a very aged Milton Berle on the MTV awards. But that shouldn't have surprised me. He could be really nasty when I knew him in Atlanta.
I know that when he had his first talk show on VH1 he was a terror, according to a friend of mine that worked for MTV. I lost respect for him when he chooses to go out in man drag all the time and can't dress up in lady drag to appease his drag fans...
