If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
These should be very interesting. I loved this bizarre little play, but I know a lot of people that REALLY hated it. I'm interested to see how the critics feel about it.
I had a lot of fun at this show. I can't tell you what it was about, but it got me out of my head. I enjoyed it. I will be curious to see what reviewers say.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Also very interested in how critics are gonna respond to this. I LOVED it. When I recommended it to a friend, they said someone else also said they loved it, but another told them is was terrible. As evidenced by the Previews thread, this is going to be a love it or hate it show.
"...while we’re on the subject of inadequacy, put me down for singling out Lane, who is only the most obvious of the pleasures in Taylor Mac’s Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus, the outrageous, hysterically funny and connivingly moving new play opening on Broadway tonight at the Booth Theatre."
NY Daily News: “But Gary" is unlike anything you’ve ever seen and, through its very presence on Broadway, an act of clear desperation and an important meditation on the role of the comic in a geopolitical hellhole.”
So sad and insulting that this site has chosen to use an outdated and incorrect photo (saying Andrea Martin) on their opening night. they should have someone other than an unpaid intern working today.
Broadway News is disapointed: “This play has the marks of an unfinished “mind dump,” and even when the mind in question is of the caliber of Taylor Mac’s, it takes more to architect a coherent work of theater. I would sign on for any and every breaking of the rules of form and structure if only I felt included in the new conventions on offer.”

I think we sort of knew this would happen. Not at all worried. Glad I’m getting to see thismess. lol "
Yes, this is as expected I’m glad you’re getting to see it...and a wee bit jealous. Anxious to see if Brantley or Green reviews for the New York Times and what he has to say
