My daughter (12 years) is in need of a musical theatre song for a dance solo next year. We are looking for something fast paced that tells a story, preferably a funny one. She has already done solos to:

Model behavior, When Velma takes the stand, Mad Hatter, Not for the life of me, If my friends could see me now.

Her absolute favorite was Model Behavior (edited to be age appropriate of course) and she would love to find something similar to that but we are coming up blank.

Any suggestions are much appreciated =)

The Sad and Sordid Saga of Cecile, from Triumph of Love? (Editing would definitely be needed.)

Oh please, easy peasy.

"Ring Them Bells" by Kander and Ebb, written for Liza and first used on Liza With a Z.

Excllent pick.

In the Same vein= The Saga of Jenny from Woman in the Dark.

The  regular tempo is a bit slower than asked for but I've heard it done w a faster tempo too.

Is “The History of Wrong Guys” from Kinky Boots too slow. It also doesn’t tell much a story. Also, not sure it would be age appropriate or make complete sense out of the show. Oh, never mind... (Kicks dirt and shuffles off...)

Or “Adelaide’s Lament” from Guys and Dolls. Also, not sure it’s really fast, tells much of a story, or is something twelve-year olds would relate to especially in 2019. I also sense a theme in my suggestions. What’s that? Okay, I’ll see myself out. Also, what’s that? Okay, I shall not return here.

The version of "Jenny" recorded by Julie Andrews and used for the movie Star! is faster than usual. Worth a listen. Worth owning.

By the way, Star! as a movie sucks canal water except for Julie Andrews, but the album is aces.

The show Jenny is from is called Lady in the Dark by Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin, his first lyrics after brother George's death.

I love a lot of the suggested songs, but for a 12 year old girl?  Not sure these are the best.

How about My New Philosophy from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown?
