It is bizarre to me as well. I mean; you got this hit show with a lot of buzz here in the states. A smash hit in its Chicago engagement. All kinds of New York industry people visiting Chicago to presumably nurture its next move. All over the local press almost every single . A rave from the New York Times. So it does seem odd that it will be playing a cruise ship next. No matter how it came about. I get to see it one more time this week. The Longacre seems like a good broadway house for it. I hope those rumors are true."

They aren't playing a cruise ship NEXT, they are playing it along side everything else.

Still weird.  Maybe they are going for something different.  But it just seems like the kind of thing that happens towards the end of a shows life.  Do you work for the show?  You seem to have a personal interest.

A few months ago, on a whim after listening to the cast recording and really vibing with it, decided to take off a weekend in June, drive halfway across the country with some friends, and see this one. That was this weekend...and I ended up seeing it three times.

Worth every penny and every second. Truly one of the most fun and engaging shows I've ever seen. And the current Chicago cast is a real wonder; thrilled I got to see Sam Pauly before she jets off to London.

Really hoping to see this one in New York sometime soon.

Truly one of the most fun and engaging shows I've ever seen.

Ditto that.  The joy I get from this show is one of those rare theatrical experiences where I simply do not want it to end.  As soon as it's over, I'm ready to see it again.  I'll probably book the final Chicago performance for my fourth visit to the show.

I also think it's one of the few shows that would benefit from a live cast recording.  To me, the energy of the audience enhances the experience.

I am in total agreement.   The cast album should be live.  The audience energy is a character in this show.  They should have also done a live cast album when Bette Midler was in Dolly.  A shame it didn't get captured.

I would think the cruise ship deal was inked long before they knew the show would be such a hit. Those things don’t happen over night. And I’m sure at the time the creative team thought why not take such a lucrative deal. And, now that the show has become such a thing, why pull out of the cruise ship deal? More exposure, etc.

I just read the NYTimes article & what jumped out at me was that this is only 80 minutes long.  Broadway prices of $200+ for an 80 minute show?  Maybe they better do a little more work on it first.

Since when is length any indication of quality? If their "story" is complete at 80 minutes, so be it, I dont want a show padded. And this is just us speculating. Who knows if the goal is bway? It certainly didnt work well for BMC.

And the average bway ticket isnt $200+. Looking at this week's grosses, only one show had an average ticket price over 200.  (I will admit, I  thought it would be higher.)

I brought up the length of the show issue earlier and was quickly shut down.  Every indication is that they are not adding/enhancing anything. I've seen the show six times because the top price is $55.  I am happy to pay $55 for a fun 80 minutes.  I doubt that they will do lower ticket prices if they go to Broadway and not sure how well the average theatre goer would take that.

The Band’s Visit ran 90-95 minutes and recouped. Come From Away runs 100 minutes (no intermission) and has recouped and is still running. What The Constitution Means To Me runs only 90 minutes and is doing bofo box office. I agree 80 minutes seems short, but if it has great buzz (as it seems to have) I think it could make it on Broadway. They probably wouldn’t be able to charge $400+ premium prices, but I think we can all agree that’s a good thing.

I totally agree. I will be seeing in on Sunday for my 4th time and already have tickets for the front row of the closing performance. I just get so happy at this show. I can't wait to meet the queens this week. This is our last week with the current K Howard I think as well so it should be a nuts crowd as well. I LOVE the energy of the show when it gets going ... sigh... sunday can't come soon enough

Sam (KHoward) has already left! Sunday was her final performance. You'll get to see Courtney Mack's first week!

I think they're saying BMC got a ton of hype and notoriety from social media, teens, tweens, etc and thats why it went to Broadway which wasnt the best choice.

I don't think Six will have the same fate tho. From what I've heard from some investors, casting people, etc..Broadway is 100% the goal. Six got rave reviews while BMC was mixed to negative. I also think Six has much more cross-over appeal.

Six simply appeals to adults mire than BMC does, and those are the ones who can buy premium tickets and make the show some money. BMC was always going to have an uphill battle where I feel other than the runtime this show has much more appeal and sounds more unique

Not to mention, Six has already been testing in commercial productions in the UK with a tour and London productions.  It's support isn't so heavily reliant on fans who haven't actually seen the show.

Caught the show for a second time tonight (going one more time at the end of July). Went with some coworkers who didn’t know the show at all (aside from knowing their Tudor history), and everyone raved about it at the end. I think this definitely has the cross-generation appeal to get a variety of people in the door (the middle aged couple sitting behind me were just as engrossed as the teens close by, which was lovely to see).

As for the cast, they’ve gotten much tighter and the show is definitely stronger since the last time I caught it (first week of previews).

I’m still not sure how higher ticket prices might impact the show (I still can’t quite imagine dropping $140 for it, but we’ll see what happens in the future). But it’s still a really fun night and the cast is great (really liked Courtney Mack as Howard- very similar vibe to Samantha).

SO! The swings from Chicago took over the chicagoshakes instagram today. They spent most of the day answering questions from fans and gave out some GREAT and telling information.

 

- Nicole will be on for Aragon for the last 2 weeks of the extended run (July 24th to the end) because Adrianna has something going on in LA.

- You can hear the show going on during the latter half of the stories. And it's kinda cool to hear the main queens singing. Some AMAZING harmonizes to be heard.

- Someone asked about the ART casting and they said "I have a feeling you will recognize the queens in Boston."

- They were asked 'Do you ever think Six will be on Broadway' and it got a VERY enthusiastic "YES" and a "see you there" with a high five from both girls. Like they seemed VERY confident about it.

I believe Adrianna is leaving to do The Wiz in Sacramento. I'm guessing we'll hear something about the show's bway plans very soon. I think they'd like to open in NY in March.

Don't worry, moderators, the cast encourages the audience to take out their phones and record the number.  FYI...my video is actually much better quality than this, but when I upload to YT, the quality's not so good.  If anyone has any tips on how to get better quality to upload, please let me know.

You know, I am noticing something from the Chicago Megasix vs the West End Megasix. It's hard to come by Megasix videos from London that doesn't feature at LEAST 1 if not 2 of the alternate queens on in a track. I know that it's been said previously that the alternates go on each at least twice a week. But while it is the same dance heavy show on both sides of the Atlantic... in Chicago, the alternates seem to very RARELY go on. Is it because they are working to get to Broadway or... I don't know it just seems so odd to me.

People have been commenting for quite some time that absenteeism in the UK production is horrid. I don't think it has anything to do with Broadway.
