There's a place in pop culture for ritzy housewives. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure that place is in Cherry Creek just yet.

February 19, 2016

There are a few places in downtown Denver where you can learn to murder someone, probably. I'd recommend you go with the one where there's singing and dancing. A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder is playing at the Buell Theatre through the end of February. The other options probably aren't quite as pleasant. (Not to be confused with Murder for Two, playing just across the way in the Garner Galleria.)

The Addams Family has been playing BDT Stage in Boulder since November, but even though death is just around the corner for this show's run, it still manages to be everything but neat, sweet and petite. (Which is exactly what an homage to the classic family deserves.)

There's currently a live version of the classic movie Dirty Dancing touring, and it's in Denver through the end of the month. I'll admit, I've never seen the film version of Dirty Dancing. (I swear, it's the truth.) But I had the time of my life. (OK, sorry.)

While Violet may appear to be in new musical in some theatergoers' eyes, the show actually has been around for a couple decades. Making its start Off-Broadway in 1997, Violet was considered a revival for its 2014 Broadway run starring Sutton Foster. Adapted from Doris Betts' story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim,' the musical has a book and lyrics by Brian Crawley with music by Jeanine Tesori (whose work can currently be heard on Broadway in Fun Home).

You take your seat as a man in a vest and untucked shirt offers you fancy grapes (grah-pays) on a skewer. You're about to catch a performance of a multi-million dollar show--kinda. Only it's in the apartment of a vacationing proctologist, and the writers haven't really put that much money into it yet.

BWW Feature: CHOOSE YOUR OWN HORROR ADVENTURE with Pandemic Collective

When four high school students decide to visit a supposedly haunted house on Halloween night, they have no idea what to expect. Their stereotypical characters and token, morally reprehensible choices only add to the intrigue. Hasn't it always been a drag to know exactly how this story ends? Or do you?
