Programming a theatre season for a major regional theatre can be a major challenge, to put it mildly. Funding, casting, public interest, mandate, and licensing availability are just some of the multitude of challenges and considerations that must be acknowledged - so its no surprise that programming The Muny's 100th season would be a big challenge.

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Once On This Island (4.41%), Spongebob (3.37%), The Band's Visit (2.56%), Miss Saigon (2.42%) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1.29%). The top growing current Broadway plays were Farinelli and the King (4.40%), Parisian Woman (3.91%), Latin History for Morons (3.38%), Meteor Shower(0.99%) and Play That Goes Wrong (0.79%).

Come From Away is now onstage in Winnipeg at the John Hirsch Mainstage - Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre until February 3. 2018. The Winnipeg engagement is completely sold out. The show then travels to Toronto with performances beginning February 13, 2018 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Toronto engagement is an open-ended run with tickets currently on sale until September 2, 2018.

La Jolla Playhouse announces Diana, a world-premiere musical from the Tony Award-winning Memphis team Joe DiPietro (book and lyrics) and David Bryan (music and lyrics), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director and 2017 Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley, as part of the 2018/2019 season.
