BWW Previews: 2019 Theatre Season Preview in Austria

Many things to do in 2019, so much things to come. You better get ready, mark all the important dates in your calendar and make sure to book your tickets.

As an easter tradition, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien are staging Andrew Lloyd Webbers JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR as a concert. It is that time of the year, where you can enjoy the VBW Musical orchestra on stage. Drew Sarich as Jesus is part of this tradition. His counterpart Judas will be played by Gino Emnes,who will make his VBW debut.

KRAWUTZI KAPUTZI will get his well deserved revival in april at the Vindobona. It can be seen as the austrian Avenue Q. Kasperl, Petzi and co., all of them heros from our childhood, all of them now grownups (like the most of us) and struggling with daily life problems. It is hilarious, funny and „oh my god" full of explicit content

It is time to say goodbye to BODYGUARD and I AM FROM AUSTRIA. Both of them must end this summer but the good news is, that there is still some time to see both of them.

In Linz, the Landestheater is putting on CHESS in Concert. Their finest musical actors and the wonderful Bruckner Orchestra, another one show you don't want to miss in 2019. Shows in Linz usually are sold out quickly, you better get your tickets now.

ELISABETH austrias best selling show wordlwide will play two performances at the historical Schloss Schönbrunn, the very place, where the empress Elisabeth lived. Pia Douwes, once the face of ELISABETH is back to perform again alongside Mark Seibert as the Death. Schöbrunn is always worth a visit. The beautiful castle, the gardens , a royal location for a concert like this.

There is also a lot to see at the VOLKSOPER Wien. MY FAIR LADY, THE MAN FROM LA MANCHA, WONDERFUL TOWN,THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE SOUND OF MUSIC and CAROUSEL. You don't know what to choose? Why not go and see them all.

There are many summer productions and festivals during the summer. Gino Emnes will be back in heels as Frank' Furter in Amstettens Rocky Horror Show. Staatz is putting on THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO and Winzendorf has chosen CARMEN THE MUSICAL for 2019.

Prepare yourself for this years highlight. CATS is coming back to town. The one show that changed everything in Vienna and the whole german speaking area back in the days.

You might think it is an odd and boring choice but it is nothing like that. Many shows are nearly sold out. Everybody wants to see CATS because it is now and forever magical.
