On Friday 8 March, QV Melbourne will host an impressive two-hour line up of fiercely feminine comedy in QV Square, along with music and dance in celebration of International Women's Day. Kicking off at 6:30pm, the QV Melbourne event will be hosted by comedian and broadcaster Geraldine Hickey, with a razor-sharp program of entertainment including comedian Cal Wilson, gender transcendent diva Mama Alto, outrageously colourful dance duet Glitter & Snatch, female led musical comedy duo The Pick Upand an all-female hip hop dance crew.

Cal Wilson, one of Australia's most loved female comics, and a proud Kiwi who has retained the far more pleasing accent, needs no introduction. A regular face on Australia's best variety TV shows, Cal's comedy special was released on Netflix this year.

"I'm looking forward to being in a fabulous, diverse line up to celebrate women in all our brilliant diversities and achievements. And before anyone says "But when's International Men's D-", it's November 19," says Cal Wilson.

Tickets to International Women's Day are on salenow via qvcinema.com.au. At just $12 (plus $1 booking fee), the price also includes QV Cinema's screening of Wonder Woman*, best enjoyed with a deckchair dinner from Grill'd, Schnitz or any of the many other eateries surrounding the square.

"With QV Square one of the CBD's most populated open-air spaces, we have been looking forward to hosting more flagship city events. Our International Women's Day celebration is an embodiment of this. We can't wait to host these phenomenal performers, a line-up that represents all the facets of femininity today," says QV Melbourne's Regional Property Manager Lisa Fleming.

Curated by Co-Artistic Director of Black Honey Company Candy Bowers, who recently curated Nocturnal at Melbourne Museum, it's tipped to be the city's go-to event for the day.

A Melbourne International Comedy Festival veteran and a well-loved breakfast radio host, Host Geraldine Hickey is lauded as the comedian's comedian.

"For me International Women's Day is a reminder and a chance to celebrate all that women have achieved, and an opportunity to show we've got a lot more to prove. Mostly though it's about treating myself to a nice lunch," says Geraldine.

Mama Alto is cabaret artiste, jazz singer and community activist. She is a transgender person of colour who works with the radical potential of storytelling, strength in softness and power in vulnerability. Fierce, femme and fabulous, she has been lauded as "divine" (Havana Tribune, Cuba), "near flawless" (The Age), and "a knockout" (Herald Sun).

Glitter & Snatch will perform a series of high-kicking, booty-popping dance numbers to banging party tracks, adorned in a variety of high-colour wearable art.

Lounge-punk comedy duo The Pick Up combine original songs, dazzling guitar licks and brilliant electric ukulele that hurl you through the embarrassing and hilarious pitfalls we all face.

Part of the fabulous line-up for QV's Outdoor Cinema program, this special International Women's Day Event is not to be missed! Visit qvcinema.com.aufor the full line-up of films and special events.
