Renowned Violinist Itzhak Perlman Will Perform At City Springs

The City of Sandy Springs, in partnership with the Sandy Springs Society and the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, is proud to present a recital by renowned artist Itzhak Perlman at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry but also his irrepressible joy of making music.

The Sandy Springs Society has a 30-year history of service to the Sandy Springs community, supporting the arts, heritage, education, the environment, and social services. The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, an affiliate group of the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, will call Byers Theatre home for its 2019 festival season.

In addition to the above Showcase Sponsors, generous support from the Sandy Springs Development Authority, RBM of Atlanta, and Northside Hospital, and a contribution from BB&T Bank helped make the performance possible for the community.

"To bring in talent the caliber of Itzhak Perlman and keep ticket prices affordable requires community support, and it is gratifying to see both community and business come together to make this performance available," said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

As part of the event, the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival will present Mr. Perlman with The AJFF Icon Award, which honors exemplary artists who've upheld the tradition of artistic excellence in film, informed directly or indirectly by a Jewish subject or sensibility, and who inspire preeminence in filmmaking worldwide. Mr. Perlman's contributions to the world of film scores are timeless. Most known for Schindler's List, he has also contributed to the music of Disney's Fantasia 2000, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Hero, where he played the fiddle as well as his signature violin.

The program for the evening will include a variety of works for solo violin performed by Mr. Perlman, in partnership with acclaimed pianist Rohan De Silva. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 4 at 12 PM. Tickets range from $65.00 - $100.00 and are available for purchase at citysprings.com, the box office (located at 1 Galambos Way), or by calling 770-206-2022.
