Dear Evan Hansen

UPDATE: We have a DEAR EVAN HANSEN London casting update, click here.

Has London found its Evan Hansen - or are fans stills waving through a window, awaiting news?

Social media is ablaze with the rumour that an actor supposedly shared his acceptance letter for the coved lead role in the West End production online.

The rumour has been reported on by theatre blog West End Wilma, and a screenshot shared of the supposed letter.

The actor rumoured to be cast as Evan Hansen is a 19-year-old Trinity Laban student named Brandon Marinas. If true, this would be a major coup for the unknown performer - and would parallel the casting of Broadway's new Evan earlier this year, with 16-year-old high school junior Andrew Barth Feldman chosen for the star-making role.

However, the West End Dear Evan Hansen PR has indicated that no casting for the production - which opens at London's Noel Coward Theatre this November - has been confirmed, so there's no official credibility for the rumour as yet.

The online response does confirm the level of excitement for the UK premiere of the hit Broadway musical, which is directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif and features a book by Tony award winner Steven Levenson and a score by the Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composers Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.

Update: According to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, the production will resume casting today, with the London ensemble announced in June. Producer Stacey Mindich said that so far "no one has been cast".
