The White Theatre Presents Riveting Off-Broadway Show WIESENTHAL For Limited Engagement

His name has become synonymous with good triumphing over evil.

Simon Wiesenthal, known as the "Jewish James Bond," devoted his life to hunting down more than 1,100 Nazi war criminals and bringing them to justice.

Now his story, WIESENTHAL, comes to Kansas City for a limited three-performance engagement at The Lewis and Shirley White Theatre of the Jewish Community Center (The J) on Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12 and Saturday, April 14. WIESENTHAL is a one-man show written and performed by Tom Dugan. The production ran off-Broadway and completed its national tour late last year. The White Theatre is bringing the show to Kansas City, by special arrangement, to coincide with Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day - commemorating the Six Million Jews whose lives were lost during the Holocaust. Yom HaShoah begins at sundown Wednesday, April 11. Following each performance of WIESENTHAL there will be a talkback session with Dugan and an educator from the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.

Wiesenthal was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. Filled with hope, humanity and humor, WIESENTHAL the play tells the riveting story of this man who was intelligent, funny, flawed and noble. Wiesenthal's fierce dedication and tenacity over decades is honored in the play, which gives equal weight to his wisdom and wit during his long, purposeful life. Ultimately, he established The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a global human rights organization focused on researching the Holocaust and hate in a historic and contemporary context. The Simon Wiesenthal Center confronts anti-Semitism, hate and terrorism, promotes human rights and dignity, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations.

Dugan's WIESENTHAL production won the prestigious LA Drama Critics Circle Award and was nominated for other honors including the Lost Angeles Ovation Award, the New York Drama Desk Award, the NY Outer Critics Circle Award and the United Solo Award. WIESENTHAL was featured last fall on PBS's Theatre Close Up hosted by Blythe Danner. In addition to WIESENTHAL, Dugan has performed in both film and television and his credits include: Bones, Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Practice, Just Shoot Me, Kindergarten Cop and Dave.

Tickets for WIESENTHAL are $25 for the general public, $18 for J members and $16 for students. Group discounts are also available, and there is special pricing for the morning school performance on Wednesday, March 21.
