Review: CLUB SWIZZLE, Roundhouse

Review: CLUB SWIZZLE, Roundhouse Step inside the Roundhouse's main space right now and you'll be treated to an overwhelming onslaught of glitter, glamour and all things gorgeous. Welcome to Club Swizzle, a place where the wild are allowed to go crazy; where people can drink, seduce, play and party. Hosting by cabaret sensation Reuben Kaye, the event is a two-hour medley of cabaret, circus, queer performance and acrobatics.

And it highly entertains; from the very first trick until the final bow you're immersed in this vibrant world. The vibe in the room is electric and the audience love every part. There's barely a moment where you can't hear cheering or clapping; it's no surprise as the action on stage is nothing short of sublime.

Everything you see feels like something new. From clowning to aerial hoop, burlesque to pole dancing, there's something in this show for everyone's taste level. The action you see is underscored to perfect time by a live bad, who improvise along to what's happening in front of them. And of course there's a little bit of audience participation, which if anything like tonight is to go by, is sure to be a definite highlight.

Sit in the splash zone and you could be treated to some of the host's spit, and if not that, he'll definitely poke fun at some part of you. Kaye's quips are not only hilarious, but spontaneously created in the moment. He uses the audience as his muse, making jabs at their appearance as mannerisms. Of course it's all done in jest and Kaye has a twinkle in his eye whilst doing it.

It's impossible to pick out a favourite act as they're all so impressive. It's a real treat to see something where you can just sit back and enjoy. This is truly a night for everyone. Make sure you pop down to Club Swizzle.
