Swift Creek Mill Theatre Hires Longtime Chef-Caterer Andrea Huntjens as New Food and Beverage Manager
Andrea Huntjens has joined the Swift Creek Mill Theatre team as Food and Beverage Manager and will be developing her first Mill Room menu for A 1940s Radio Show later this fall. A Central Virginia native, Andrea has been in the hospitality industry over 35 years and has catered for at least 20. She believes in going local and wants to take the Mill's dining to "the next level."

Andrea grew up in Richmond and lives in Petersburg, where she operated the popular Petersburg Provisions store and catering. With an extensive background in culinary arts and a passion for local, farm-fresh ingredients, Andrea's fare has long been sought after at events and farmers' markets. A fan of Julia Child, she has a knack for elevating even the simple to the sublime and crafting feel-good food with southern flare - everything from pimento cheese to beef tenderloin.

While she cannot promise to fit pimento cheese onto the Mill's menu, she will be making a few changes. Drawing inspiration from Virginia's bountiful local farms, breweries, and wineries, she prefers fresh ingredients as her artistic media to create culinary masterpieces that await patrons' pallets. She hopes to incorporate more local items into Swift Creek Mill Theatre's offerings. Andrea's vison is to add new and different menus and new dining concepts, such as wine dinners and brunches, to Swift Creek Mill's gastronomic repertoire.

Andrea's husband, four children, (soon to be) two grandchildren, and three fur babies keep her busy at home, and she is enjoying the new opportunity to work for the Mill, a historic location that she views as an integral part of the community. It is shaping up to be a partnership that goes together like... well, pimentos and cheese.

Enjoy Andrea Huntjens's holiday menu during dining for A 1940s Radio Christmas, November 17 - January 5. Reservations are available now, and the menu will be available at swiftcreekmill.com/menu November 1.
