BRICK STREET ARTS BASH, A Day Full of Live Music and Performances, in MARIETTA On April 14th!

The People's Bank Theatre, Marietta College Theatre Department, ArtsBridge and the Ohio Arts Council are teaming up to bring the community around Marietta a free event, the Second Annual Brick Street Arts Bash, on April 14th, 2018 from 12:00 PM through 5:00 PM. This block party, occurring on Putnam Street in Marietta, Ohio, will be filled with live entertainment, vendors, karaoke, and crafts. The Brick Street Arts Bash is sure to be an event enjoyed by all ages.

I spoke with Morgan Thompson, Artistic Director of the Brick Street Arts Bash, to get a better understanding of the event and what activities will be available to the public.

"It is a day of family friendly activities," said Thompson, "including karaoke, hands-on crafts, stage combat demonstrations, and other live entertainment." There will be two separate stages providing live music and theatrics. "We will have an outdoor stage and will also be using the MOVP (Mid-Ohio Valley Players) stage. Our live act lineup includes High Schools that Rock, Floodstage (Marietta College Acapella), Marietta Dance Academy, Kerry Blair Magician, Marietta College Pep Band, and Kaplan the Magician."

2:15 PM - Floodstage Acapella
3:00 PM - Stacey's Dance Studio
3:45 PM - Marietta Dance Academy

Children's art activities, face painting, sidewalk art, artisans, demonstrations, etc.

A performance of Annie: The Musical, produced by the Marietta College Theatre Department and performed at the Peoples Bank Theatre, will begin at 7:00 PM. Tickets will have to be purchased for those wishing to see Annie, with tickets starting at $15.00

On top of the free activities available, there will be food trucks, vendors, and artisans set up through the area providing food, crafts, and services for a small cost. Thompson provided details about who would be there, "Vendors and artisans include Marietta College Admissions, glass jewelry making, homemade bath bombs and lotions, photography, pottery, and more." As for food, Thompson said, "Busy Bee Food Truck and Lisa's Sweet Spot will be there to provide food, refreshments, and sweets!"

For Thompson, this event has been a passion project and the culminating event of her Artistic Direction Capstone as a Theatre BFA major at Marietta College. "I am very proud of the work we accomplished in just a few short months," said Thompson, speaking about working jointly with the theatre department at Marietta College and the People's Bank Theatre. "We are so excited to offer this day of arts celebration to our community and hope that it connects downtown life with the college community, and beyond, by way of the Arts District." Thompson proudly declares, "This capstone is just the start of a very long career I hope to have in Theatre and Arts Management."
