The 2019 Kennedy Center Arts Summit: The Human Journey: Creating the Story of US will take place Monday, April 29, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kennedy Center. The one-day annual convening brings together thought leaders from the arts and related fields to investigate the power and potential of the arts.

Early bird registration is open now at www.kennedy-center.org/summit. Presenters and performers will be announced at a later date.

The 2019 Arts Summit will explore how stories shape our world. How can storytelling reframe our worldview-shift/expand what we think is possible? How do more inclusive and diverse stories-stories beyond the dominant narrative-help build a more equitable society? How can radical listening foster empathy and "stitch" together the tears in our social fabric? Through a series of conversations, performances, breakout sessions, and presentations, participants will explore story as an art, a tool, and a strategy for social progress.

Speakers and presenters at previous Arts Summits include: Former United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor; authors and New York Times opinion writers David Brooks and Thomas Friedman; and artists and thought leaders Spike Lee, Hank Willis Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, and Damian Woetzel, among many others.

Early bird registration is open now, and is $150 per person. Student and educator discount codes are available; contact KCED@kennedy-Center.org for more information. For more information or to register, please visit the Kennedy Center Arts Summit website.
