After being nominated for a Juno award and releasing a new album at the end of 2018, Nuela Charles is ready to wow audiences with her show in The Club at Citadel Theatre this month. The local singer/songwriter, known for her powerful voice, soulful lyrics, and captivating stage presence, will perform to sold-out houses on January 18 and 19, with another performance added due to popular demand. Limited tickets are still available for that extra performance, a matinee show taking place on January 20.

Her latest project, Distant Danger, came out in October 2018, with the first single, Do It Right, hitting the airwaves last March. Notably, Do It Right was co-written and produced by Grammy-nominated Rob Kleiner, who has worked with artists such as Sia, Andra Day, and CeeLo Green. Charles' music is familiar to fans of the hit CW show, Jane the Virgin, and those who tune into CBC Radio Music (formerly Radio 2).

Charles has previously performed at Canadian Music Week numerous times, headlined an evening at the Edmonton Jazz Festival, opened for Ziggy Marley, and sung at the popular showcase, It's A School Night, in Los Angeles. Soultrain.com has called her "one to watch," and U.K.'s Metro publication declared her "cocked, locked, and ready to be shot onto the world stage with a soulful voice that may one day fill the Amy Winehouse-shaped holes in everyone's hearts." She has also appeared in Edmonton's lifestyle magazine, Avenue.

Nuela Charles performs January 18 to 20, 2019, in The Club at the Citadel Theatre. For more information, visit www.citadeltheatre.com.
