Local Primary School Children 'Dream Big' With Grand Theatre Pantomime Project

Ten local Primary Schools have taken part in a Grand Theatre project which saw performance poet and comedienne Emma Purshouse deliver creative writing workshops in schools throughout the year. This inspired them to write short bedtime stories, some of which were published in a book and all of the entries are now on display at the Light House in Wolverhampton until the end of January.

Dallas Schools Selected For Disney Musicals In Schools Program

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the five schools that have been selected to participate in the 2019 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under- resourced elementary schools. The five schools are a part of Dallas Independent School District. The five schools include L.O. Donald Leadership Academy, Ronald E. McNair Elementary School, School for the Talented and Gifted in Pleasant Grove, K.B. Polk Center for Academically Talented and Gifted, and Solar Preparatory School for Girls.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma is pleased to announce the five new schools that have been selected to participate in the 2018-19 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The five schools are a part of  Oklahoma City Public Schools. The five schools include: Adelaide Lee, Hawthorne, John Rex, Pierce, and Willow Brook elementaries.

10HL Partners With Elizabeth Public Schools/3rd Consecutive Year

10 Hairy Legs will provide the Dance to Learn program to all second grade students at iPrep Academy and George Washington School #1 in Elizabeth, NJ in Fall 2018. The Creative Movement Residency includes 14 consecutive weekly classes during the school day taught to 100 students by 10 Hairy Legs Teaching Artist Shawn Brush. Brush works actively as a professional dancer as well as a Teaching Artist. Brush graduated Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University earning BFA's in Dance. The professional company will perform at Jerome Dunn Academy on Thursday, December ­­20 at 9:30 am with students participating in the program. The performance is free and open to the community.

AT&T Performing Arts Center Awarded Grant for Disney Musicals In Schools Program

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center today announced that Disney has awarded the Center a grant to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to the Dallas area. The three-year program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under-resourced public elementary schools. The Center and Disney will select five Dallas Independent School District elementary schools to participate in this year's program. An additional five schools will be chosen for the program in 2020. The Center is one of the first organizations chosen for the program in the southwest United States.

Elementary School Students Challenge Each Other To Listen To Wagner's Full Ring Cycle

29 elementary school-aged students in San Francisco are taking on the ultimate opera challenge this month: listening to all 15 hours of Wagner's Ring Cycle. Little Opera students in grades K-5 started the 20-day listen-a-thon challenge last week, led by Little Opera student advisory board members Solveig Libicki and Danah Aroonchaipirom. Winning students will receive tickets to attend dress rehearsals of this summer's Ring Cycle at the San Francisco Opera.

Directed by Travis Daly, music direction by Erin White and choreography by Kathy Jo Grover, Disney's The Lion King, Jr. will run at The Colonial Theatre on April 28 at 11am and 2pm, and April 29 at 2pm. There will be a talkback following the April 28TH 2pm performance, facilitated by director Travis Daly. On January 16, Pickerington Elementary became the first central Ohio school to implement Mindful Music Moments, a daily mindfulness and classical music program that promotes student focus. Backed by the Columbus Symphony, with additional support from CAPA and Opera Columbus, 460 students in grades K-6 listen to four minutes of recorded classical music and relaxation prompts at the start of each school day during morning announcements.
