Washington And Eisenstadt Present Bring Literature To Life With An Original Adaptation Of SPOON RIVER Anthology

Washington and Eisenstadt Present are bringing literature to life with "Spoon River", playing June 8-9 at The Studio at The Carrollwood Cultural Center. This original stage adaptation of the poetry collection by Edgar Lee Masters, published in 1916, is about the secrets which form or lives, as revealed in death.

"Spoon River" explores themes of humanity, morality, shame, loss, and regret. The cast of 12 portray 33 of the deceased residents of the fictional town of Spoon River, each sharing with the audience stories of their lives and, occasionally, their deaths. As adapted and directed by Keith Eisenstadt, the characters exist in a shared isolation, discovering individuality within the greater community.

"Spoon River is not just a fake town in Illinois; it's every town, city, village, and community, everywhere. The people of this town represent all aspects of ourselves and humanity. It's amazing how the material is still relevant a century after it was published." said Eisenstadt.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and are on sale now. They can be purchased by calling the Carrollwood Cultural Center box office at 813-922-8167 or by visiting their Facebook page. Tickets can also be purchased through the event page on Facebook hosted by Washington and Eisenstadt Present. Shows are on June 8 and 9 at 8 pm. The Studio at Carrollwood Cultural Center is located at 13345 Casey Rd, Tampa, FL 33618.
