South Dakota Symphony Presents JURASSIC PARK LIVE IN CONCERT

Welcome to Jurassic Park! The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) brings Steven Spielberg's thrilling science fiction adventure film on a large screen with live orchestra to the Washington Pavilion, Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 10 at 2:30 p.m.

Featuring one of John Williams' most iconic and beloved musical scores, Jurassic Park transformed the movie-going experience for an entire generation and became the highest-grossing film of all time in 1993, winning three Academy Awards. Masterfully directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park transports us to a secluded island where scientists have succeeded in reviving the age of dinosaurs in a brand new, immersive theme park, the likes of which has never been seen before.

"John Williams is a master of his craft, having composed some of the most iconic movie scores of all time. Bringing a feature-length film is something we've wanted to do for a while now, and it was the perfect time for Jurassic Park with its 25th anniversary last year," says Jake Windish, Director of Marketing for the SDSO. "Your surround sound at home can't match having the orchestra perform the music live. In the Washington Pavilion, the music washes over you and elevates the entire film."

Led by SDSO Assistant Conductor Thomas Fortner, Jurassic Park - In Concert is the first time the SDSO has performed a feature-length film live-to-picture. The SDSO has announced it will continue bringing films with live orchestra next year with The Wizard of Oz in February 2020.

Tickets for Jurassic Park can be purchased by visiting www.sdsymphony.org or by calling the Washington Pavilion Box Office at 605.367.6000. $10 Student Rush tickets are available one hour prior to the concert for any student with a valid student ID.

The Saturday, February 9 performance at 7:30 p.m. is generously sponsored by First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard. The Sunday, February 10 performance at 2:30 p.m. is generously sponsored by Sanford Health.
