Porchlight Music Theatre is presenting the Chicago premiere of the critically acclaimed musical comedy Ernest Shackleton Loves Me, music by Brendan Milburn, lyrics by Val Vigoda, orchestrations and additional music by Ryan O’Connell and book by Joe DiPietro, at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, now playing in a limited run through June 1 only. Westport Country Playhouse is staging the comic satire, “Straight White Men,” by Young Jean Lee, from now through June 5, directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. The show’s 2018 Broadway run made Lee the first Asian American female playwright to have a work produced there.

The DCPA Theatre Company is now presenting the world premiere of Rattlesnake Kate in the Wolf Theatre running through March 13, 2022.

 Bergen County Players, one of America's longest-running little theater companies, is pleased to continue its 2019-2020 season with the Tony-nominated play, 33 Variations. Written by Moisés Kaufman (The Laramie Project) and directed by Steve Bell, 33 Variations will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from January 11th through February 1st, 2020.

On May 4, 1970, over a period of 13-seconds, nearly 70 shots were fired upon Kent State University unarmed students by the Ohio State National Guard. The students, and their supporters, were protesting against the bombing of Cambodia by the United States, part of the ill-conceived Vietnam incursion. Forever after, to be known as 'The Kent State Massacre,' the attack killed four and wounded nine others.

 “Man of La Mancha” is a powerful and timeless story.  Dale Wasserman wrote the Book, Music by Mitch Leigh, with Lyrics by Joe Darion.   The show opens October 18, 2019 and runs thru November 10 at the Granite Theatre.  Producer/Artistic Director for the theatre is David Jepson. 

Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF's season-opener, Evita, featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics and book by Tim Rice, runs from September 4 - October 6, 2019. The third show in the 2019 season is the Broadway At Music Circus premiere of the award-winning musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone is now on stage, starring writeractorcomedian Bruce Vilanch and featuring a cast of Broadway veterans. Playwright Noel Coward's effervescent 1930s comedy "Private Lives" will be the fourth and final play of the Hampton Theatre Company's 2018-2019 season, opening on May 23 at the Quogue Community Hall and running through June 9.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents Junk, the hit Broadway play by Milwaukee native and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar in the Quadracci Powerhouse now through February 17, 2019.  Since its Broadway premiere at Lincoln Center last year, Ayad Akhtar along with Artistic Director Mark Clements have continued to hone Junk to bring Milwaukee audiences a new, two hour no intermission riveting story set in the financial world of the 1980s.

On Friday December 7, TheatreWorks New Milford will open the classic musical, Man of La Mancha, by Dale Wasserman, Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. Man of La Mancha is based on Miguel de Cervantes' tale, Don Quixote.

A ghostly mystery begins a season of DC-area premiere productions by the Washington Stage Guild' (WSG). Summerland by Arlitia Jones tells the mysterious tale of William H. Mumler, a 'spirit photographer' with a talent for capturing haunting images from the world beyond the veil. The Civil War has ended, and a grieving nation sees many turning to spiritualism to contact the dead. Mumler sees his business boom as mourners, including a very famous one, flock to his studio. A New York City police official makes it his mission to prove it's a fraud, but finds that harder than he hoped. Based on a true story, this area premiere opens Thursday, Sept. 27 and runs through Sunday, October 21.
