TheaterWorksUSA's world premiere of the musical adaptation of Cat Kid Comic Club series by Dav Pilkey opens today, Sunday, July 30, at 3 PM. The limited run is written by the award-winning team of Kevin Del Aguila (book and lyrics) and Brad Alexander(music), with direction and choreography by Marlo Hunter and musical direction by Paul Staroba, and runs through August 27, 2023 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, Sunday in the Park with George, won the Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 1984 including Best Musical. This rarely-done musical was last produced in San Diego by Ion Theatre in 2016. Sunday in the Park with George, starring Will Blum and Emily Lopez, runs February 17 - March 5, 2023. Vineyard Theatre's production of Nicky Silver's play THIS DAY FORWARD, opening the Vineyard Theatre's 2016-2017 season began performances Thursday, November 3 and will open on Monday, November 21. THIS DAY FORWARD features Andrew Burnap (TROILUS AND CRESSIDA), Michael Crane (Vineyard's GLORIA and 'People of Earth'), Holley Fain ('Grey's Anatomy'), Francesca Faridany (THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME), Tony Award nominee June Gable (CANDIDE, 'Friends') and Joe Tippett (AIRLINE HIGHWAY). Playwrights Horizons will soon present A Life, the world premiere of a new play by Obie Award winner Adam Bock (A Small Fire and The Drunken City at Playwrights, The Receptionist, The Thugs, Swimming in the Shallows). Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (Marjorie Prime, Detroit, Maple and Vine at Playwrights; You Got Older; Belleville; This Wide Night; Smokefall), A Life will be the second production of the theater company's 2016/2017 Season.

American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

On May 4, the 2016 Tony nominees flocked to the Paramount Hotel, where they met with the press for the first time since getting the big news. POLKADOTS: THE COOL KIDS MUSICAL debuted its developmental production at the Ivortyon Playhouse, on Monday, April 11th, 2016. Conceived by (composer) Douglas Lyons, POLKADOTS was inspired by the 1957 events of the 'Little Rock Nine' in Arkansas and serves as a colorful musical history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.
