But her family is distracted by the technology of modern life, from cell phones and text messages to bills and budgets. They are all too busy to listen. But when Cristina enters a dream world, she encounters several familiar characters from Latino folklore - the jaguar, the armadillo, and the daughter of the Sun God, among others - who not only help her speak her mind, but give her the confidence to face her future.

In his new play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, Kushner writes movingly about politics and family in America today-plus unions, real estate and love. Arena Stage begins a new life in its renovated home at the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C., opening its inaugural season with a classic American musical that similarly embraces life on a new frontier. Star of the stage and screen, Jill Clayburgh passed away yesterday, November 5, at the age of 66. Clayburgh lost a 21 year battle with chronic leukemia. Clayburgh is survived by her husband, playwright David Rabe, and her daughter, Lily Rabe, who is currently starring in the Broadway production of 'The Merchant of Venice.'
