Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's professional classic repertory theatre, begins Season XIII: Celebrating the Extraordinary with Eugène Ionesco’s The Chairs. Directed by Quintessence’s Artistic Director Alexander Burns, The Chairs, full of absurdist philosophy, witty wordplay and slapstick comedy runs through October 23. One of the most anticipated events of the season, the annual Hot Pink Party was hosted by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) on Wednesday, May 15 at the Park Avenue Armory, raising $6 million for breast cancer research. This year's gala commemorated the incredible impact BCRF investigators have made on research since the organization's founding in 1993.

On Monday, October 15, 2012, Sir Elton John continued his humanitarian efforts to raise money for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and awareness programs across the United States, the Americas, and the Caribbean at the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF)'s 11th annual benefit An Enduring Vision held at Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street). American Airlines, The Kraft Group, and Wells Fargo served as the Presenting Sponsors of the benefit, and the star-studded evening raised $2 million for the Foundation.
