Broadway legend John Kander, who is currently represented on Broadway with Chicago and New York, New York, celebrates his 96th birthday tomorrow, March 18. To celebrate the headed to the Ambassador Theatre to pose with the ladies of Chicago!

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell S. Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presented the fifteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Angela Sclafani & Benjamin Velez. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, was presented by Kate Baldwin on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Tony winner and premier actress of the American stage Marian Seldes, 86, died peacefully at her home Monday after an extended illness. Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 203rd season with an all-new production of Broadway's Tony Award-winning family musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. Arena Stage begins a new life in its renovated home at the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C., opening its inaugural season with a classic American musical that similarly embraces life on a new frontier. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! is the first production at the Mead Center and features an all-star cast under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. Taylor Hicks had a surprise in store for the audience attending last Saturday evening's performance June 6th with prop that stopped the show with laughter and applause. While on stage in Appleton, Wisconsin (the CHEESE state), Hicks decided to surprise the local audience when he appears from inside the ice cream cone by wearing a cheese hat!

The 11th Annual Broadway Bears auction line-up, presented by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS on February 17 at 7PM, is here! Each year, 'Broadway Bears: A Costumed Teddy Bear Auction' is a much-anticipated BC/EFA event. These specially-designed bears (often using actual material from their respective Broadway productions, and autographed by the stars) raised $130,000 last year. BC/EFA hopes to reach even higher this winter!
