Symphony Space's 2015 gala celebrated Broadway impresario Harold Prince with a star-studded musical tribute to the legendary 21 time Tony Award-winning producer/director on May 18, at Capitale. Danny Burstein hosted the evening, which featured performances by Kate Baldwin, Sierra Boggess, Santino Fontana, Jeremy Jordan, Ramin Karimloo, Norm Lewis,Rebecca Luker, Laura Osnes, and Chita Rivera. BROADWAY GYPSY TEA DANCE recently gathered at the rooftop bar Top of the Strand at the Strand Hotel (33 West 37th Street) to celebrate Chita Rivera's 2015 Tony Award nomination, enlisting dancers from most of Broadway's shows. Those represented included The King & I, Aladdin, Kinky Boots, Something Rotten, Wicked, American in Paris, The Lion King and gypsies who danced with Rivera in her last Broadway show A Dancer's Life. Cookeville High School's production of West Side Story claimed top honors - the award for Best Show of 2014/15 - last Saturday at the second annual Nashville High School Musical Theatre Awards, presented at Lipscomb University's Collins Alumni Auditorium and hosted by Melinda Doolittle.

Westchester Broadway Theatre presents WEST SIDE STORY, based on a concept by Jerome Robbins with book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, directed and choreographed by Barry McNabb and musical direction by Ryan Edward Wise. The show runs now through July 5th, 2015 and officially opens on April 16th, 2015. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast below!

Based in HITCHIN, the EDSA headquarters is a 12,000 sq ft, 3 storey building with 5 massive dance studios. On the 1st of May, Emil will open a brand NEW not-for-profit theatre in a disused factory in Hitchin. The first show will be WEST SIDE STORY accompanied by a LIVE 9 piece West End band conducted by Phil Dennis (currently conducts on Billy Elliot in the West End & worked on We Will Rock You.) The Professional Dancers Society's (PDS) Gypsy Awards Luncheon honoring actress/singer/dancer Carol Lawrence, along with famed choreographers Alan Johnson, Miriam Nelson and Walter Painter, was held on March 29, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Scroll down for photos from the event!

Berkeley Playhouse at the historic Julia Morgan Theater continues their seventh season with You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown directed and choreographed by Christina Lazo (Chicago, The Rocky Horror Show with Altarena Playhouse; All Shook Up, West Side Story with Tri Valley Repertory Theatre; A Chorus Line, Catch Me If You Can with Woodminster; and Bye Bye Birdie with Contra Costa Musical Theatre). Previews begin tonight, February 19, and runs from February 21 to March 15, 2015 at the Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Ave. in Berkeley.
