The Passion of Joan of Arc (Carl Theodor Dreyer, 1928) is widely regarded as not only one of the most important films from the silent era but a movie that proved film could also be art. On Sunday, January 17 at 7:30pm the cult-classic will be screened in VPAC's Great Hall, accompanied by The Orlando Consort's period medieval music-much of which was composed during Joan of Arc's lifetime--for a unique evening blending silent film with live music that bring the story of Saint Joan to life onstage.

MediaRites' Theatre Diaspora, presents the last play of the 2015 season The Sound of a Voice by noted playwright, David Henry Hwang (best known for M. Butterfly, which received the 1988 Tony Award for Best Play and for Chinglish produced at Portland Center Stage)  on Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m at PCS. Playwright David Henry Hwang will join the audience for a Skype talk at the October 17th  2pm performance.

The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

Under director/choreographer Rachel Rockwell, a company of 28 actors, dancers and singers breathe new life into the enchanting tale of an 18th century Scottish village that appears every century for one day only -- and the complications that arise when it's discovered by two 20th century Americans. With adapter Brian Hill, Rockwell revisits the libretto for this production, while music director Roberta Duchak and an orchestra of 13 use new orchestrations to enhance Loewe's lilting score.

Cementing its role as a purveyor of new plays, as a destination for the finest talent in the field, and as an anchor in its Cedar-Riverside Minneapolis neighborhood, Mixed Blood Theatre Company will produce, present, and host 20 theatrical productions in the Alan Page Auditorium of its historic firehouse theatre between August of 2014 and July of 2015.

Program details for the Toronto-based Luminato festival, now in its eighth year, were unveiled Tuesday morning in a packed room at the modern MaRS Discovery Centre. Heralded by a Brazilian drum corps, Luminato's moustachioed Artistic Director Jorn Weisbrodt made his entrance, shyly smiling and shaking hands as he made his way up the aisle, before introducing a comprehensive look at this year's festival.

This momentous occasion will be marked with a formal procession followed by a retrospective of the company's four decades of creativity and community-building. The evening will conclude with the world premiere of all four parts of Rhythms of Life: Down the Congo Line, a monumental work representing the legacy of traditional Congolese dance forms in the New World. Dance performances will be attended throughout by live music and ritual enactments.

hotINK at the Lark will present seven play readings, written by playwrights who hail from outside of the United States. Lookingglass Theatre Company will open its 25th Anniversary Season with Metamorphoses, based on the Myths of Ovid, written and directed by Lookingglass Ensemble Member Mary Zimmerman. The show will play tonight, September 19 - September 28, 2012. The return of Lookingglass' seminal production, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway run, will open at Lookingglass in the fall of 2012 and will then move to Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage.
