Stage Legend Chita Rivera Performs Hits from Her Remarkable Career at The Ridgefield Playhouse on 11/20

Chita Rivera is at home on the biggest Broadway stages and at Carnegie Hall - now you can see her perform on the stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse! Ingersoll Auto of Danbury World Music Series and Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series presents a one-night-only celebration of the Tony Award winner on Sunday, November 20th at 7:00 pm. Called a "force of nature" by the Associated Press, Chita will perform all the hits from her remarkable 65 year career including numbers from "West Side Story"; "Sweet Charity"; "Chicago'; "Kiss of the Spider Woman"; "Bye, Bye Birdie" and more! Ticket holders are invited to a free wine tasting in the lobby of The Playhouse at 6:15 pm, courtesy of The Wine Group/Benziger Family Winery-and can start off their evening with a Prix Fixe Dinner at Bernard's (20 West Lane, Ridgefield). Partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa, this show will also include a special tribute to Ms. Rivera's dear friends John Kander & Fred Ebb (writers of Kiss of the Spider Woman), as well as songs by Leonard Bernstein, Charles Strouse, Jerry Herman and Stephen Sondheim. With its array of accolades ~ novel, film, and musical ~ and the richness of its themes and content, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN is a treasure trove of possibility, to be mined deeply and imaginatively for its allusions to the mythology of the spider woman, cinema, and revolution. On these varied accounts, Scottsdale Musical Theater Company's current stab at the KISS falls short. The multi-talented Hector Coris directs this ambitious production, but I fear that limited resources have roadblocked him from realizing the production's full potential.

According to The Globe and Mail, The Ontario Court of Appeal has upheld a 2014 decision directing accounting firm Deloitte & Touche to pay $118 million for negligence in its work as auditor for the now defunct live theatre company Livent, Inc. -- notorious for its connection to fraudulent producer Garth Drabinsky -- in the late 1990s.

Happy Birthday Brent Carver! Carver is best known for his performances on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman as Molina, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 1993, Fiddler on the Roof, and Parade as Leo Frank. Carver originated the role of Gandalf in the Toronto stage production of The Lord of the Rings and has appeared in several Soulpepper Theatre Company productions such as The Wild Duck, Don Carlos and the Pirate King in the 1985 production of The Pirates of Penzance.
