After a mix-up at the border, an Egyptian Police Band is sent to a remote village in the middle of the Israeli desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways. Luigi is a contemporary American comedic playwright. A native of New Jersey, Jannuzzi attended Bound Brook High School, Raritan Valley Community College, Salem University, WV & The University of Notre Dame, where he received a Master's Degree. From 1978 - 2012 at Immaculate High School, Somerville, NJ, he taught English, Drama and Creative Writing.

The Crossing has received an extremely generous $200,000 gift from long-time friend, advocate, and supporter Thomas Kasdorf of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The extraordinary unrestricted funding will support The Crossing's 2019-2020 season, with commissions of Edie Hill, Tawnie Olsen, Gavin Bryars, Daniel Felsenfeld, Aaron Helgeson, Gabriel Jackson, and Michael Gordon at venues such as Crane Arts Icebox, the Met Cloisters, the Hal Prince Theater and Zellerbach Theaters at the Annenberg Center, Holy Trinity Rittenhouse Square, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, and at The Crossing's home, the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill.

At the 2019 Tanglewood Gala on Saturday, July 13, the Boston Symphony Orchestra will announce that the donor-funded Tanglewood Forever campaign, which continues through August 31, 2019, has surpassed its $64 million goal, raising $70 million as of July 8, 2019. The primary goals of Tanglewood Forever have been both to enhance the festival's traditional summer season offerings with the wide spectrum of dynamic, engaging, and thought-provoking activities of the new Tanglewood Learning Institute (TLI), and to amplify its connection with the Berkshire community through the introduction of the new four-building climate controlled Linde Center for Music and Learning, which will play an essential role in establishing Tanglewood for the first time as an all-season facility. Details of fall, winter, and spring programming at the Linde Center will be announced later in the summer. Grammy-winning new-music choir, The Crossing, releases its latest album, THE ARC IN THE SKY, today, Friday, July 12, 2019, on Navona Records. Kile Smith's 2018 setting of journal entries and poems by Robert Lax (1915–2000), THE ARC IN THE SKY is an epic, hour-long tour de force of thought and feeling that traverses topics ranging from Louis Armstrong to Jack Kerouac, and from Jerusalem to the shores of the island of Patmos. THE ARC IN THE SKY marks Smith's sixth commission from The Crossing, which has also recorded his Where Flames a Word and Vespers

On Monday night, the Emerson Colonial Theatre presented THE SETH RUDESTSKY SERIES STARRING JESSIE MUELLER, the first of three concerts with Cheyenne Jackson (October 4) and Kelli O'Hara (January 9) to follow. The host of Sirius SM's On Broadway channel, Rudetsky is a pianist, a music director, and possesses a vast knowledge of musical theater. In this series, a combination of conversation and musical performances, Rudetsky moves seamlessly between his dual roles as onstage accompanist and interviewer, starting out on the piano bench and ambling over to a quasi-living room ('we have a carpet') with a pair of comfy armchairs. Singing a broad range of selections, both Broadway and pop, Mueller proves herself to be a vocal chameleon, and presents as warm, genuine, and occasionally self-deprecating during the interview portions of the show.

This Friday, just in time for summer, Brijean - the sunny disco-pop project of acclaimed percussionist Brijean Murphy (Toro y Moi, U.S. Girls, Poolside) and producer Doug Stuart - will release its debut, the Walkie Talkie EP. Today, the duo is sharing an advance stream of the full EP with Gorilla Vs. Bear, who write, '[it] sounds a bit like Stereolab gone full-on dreamy disco-pop, Brijean's silky vocals wafting over an infectious tropical groove that feels destined to soundtrack countless pool parties and topdown twilight drives up the coast.'

Brown, James Shrader, Bruce Babcock, Jonathan Sheffer, and Christopher J. Hoh. Exploring humanity in all its facets, EVOLUTIONARY SPIRITS grapples with aspects of life, both mortal and eternal, drawing texts from a variety of sources including songs of praise from the Biblical era, a reimagining of a Shakespearean sonnet, and contemporary poetry.

Oakland percussionist Brijean Murphy has made a name for herself as the effortlessly cool conga player in live bands with Toro y Moi, U.S. Girls, and Poolside. Today she steps into the spotlight, announcing her debut EP as Brijean, a collaboration with producer/multi-instrumentalist Doug Stuart. The Walkie Talkie EP will be released on June 28 on Native Cat Recordings and features the disco-pop lead single 'Show and Tell.' The 'Show and Tell' video premiered today on Stereogum, who write, 'The track opens up with a pulsating bass line accented by dripping chimes. A funky melody on a keyed instrument gives way to a fun, disco feel as an intense conga section rises and maintains throughout.'

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is happy to announce the full line-up of its annual PEN World Voices International Play Festival. As part of the 2019 PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the International Play Festival presents play readings with some of the most significant theatre artists from Germany. All six playwrights are part of the Gorki Theater in Berlin-a safe haven for immigrant, refugee and international theatre artists in Europe. Legendary Artistic Director of the Gorki, Shermin Langhoff will join in conversation about their work. The Festival aims to enrich awareness of global dialogues, by bridging American audiences and international theatre-makers. All readings will be followed by discussion.

Late playwright Lorena Gale's ANGELIQUE makes its Toronto debut in this Black Theatre Workshop and Tableau D'Hote co-production, presented by Factory Theatre and Obsidian Theatre. The play follows the true story behind Marie Joseph Angelique, an enslaved black woman, as she attempts to navigate the cruel world of slavery in 1700s Montreal. Her story, like many enslaved peoples, ends in tragedy as Angelique is hanged based on accusations of setting a fire that destroyed a large part of the colony in 1734.
