June 25th, 2017 marked New York City's 47th Annual Pride parade. Thousands of New Yorkers took to the streets to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community this year. A sea of rainbow, glitter, feathers, and every combination of the three filled the street. The historic march was filled with members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike. Stretching from 36th street and 5th avenue all the way down past the historic Stonewall Inn to Christopher street, people sang, danced, and watched as the parade passed by.

The Henegar Center's 17th season will include something for everyone.  A mad, revengeful barber, a young orphan, some rockin' nuns, a trip to Vegas, and a romantic look at Madison County will grace the main stage of The Henegar Center.  Upstairs at the Henegar boasts all female leading ladies.  "It's the time of women and their empowerment," says Hank Rion, Artistic Director.  "Women are speaking out all over the country right now; we should hear their voice on stage, too."

Sarasota Opera – Thrilling music, exciting new voices, and compelling theater will launch Sarasota Opera into its 58th Season of presenting grand opera on the south Florida gulf coast, the first season in 28 years to not include any operas by Giuseppe Verdi.

"I haven't specifically counted," the dynamic actress sitting opposite me replies. "Somewhere between 1000-2000 performances, I think. I've done the role with Theodore Bikel and Harvey Fierstein, on both national tours, and in regional and stock houses all over the country." Susan Cella is speaking of her signature portrayal of Golde, the vehicle which has brought her to the latest stop in her artistic journey, Maine State Music Theatre in a new production of the Bock-Harnick musical, Fiddler on the Roof, that opens July 20.

California Shakespeare Theater's 25th anniversary season at the Bruns Amphitheater continues with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of the American Dream deferred, Fences, directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges in her Cal Shakes debut. Fences, which plays from July 6 through July 31, marks the first time Cal Shakes has presented August Wilson's work on its stage. The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team, host and venue for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. Dora Awards Producer Jacoba Knaapen announced that the much-anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 27 and that it will, for the third time in a row, be held under the stars at Harbourfront Centre. Tickets go on sale May 31.
