Apollo's Fire And Jeannette Sorrell Will Tour U.K. And Ireland

Following an acclaimed tour of the United States in June 2018, Apollo's Fire continues its 2018 summer touring season with performances throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Italy. Led by founding Artistic Director and conductor Jeannette Sorrell, the acclaimed baroque orchestra's summer programs include Sorrell's critically celebrated Sugarloaf Mountain - An Appalachian Gathering program and works Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, and Telemann.

Apollo's Fire Brings Monteverdi's L'Orfeo To Ann Arbor, Berkeley And Sonoma In April 2018

After a critically acclaimed East Coast Tour last month which included a Carnegie Hall debut on March 22, Apollo's Fire launches a new production of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (Orpheus in the Underworld) starting on April 13 in Cleveland. Conducted by founding artistic director Jeannette Sorrell and directed by British stage director Sophie Daneman, the semi-staged production will include a historically reconstructed version of the work's original ending, as well as period dancers, digital scenic projections, and a stellar cast of singers. Apollo's Fire will present Monteverdi's L'Orfeo on tour at three leading American performing arts institutions; return visits to University Musical Society in Ann Arbor on April 15 and Cal Performances in Berkeley on April 20, and a debut at Green Music Center in Sonoma on April 22.

Opera Saratoga Announces Complete Casting And Programs For 2018 Summer Festival

Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson announced the complete casting and programming for the company's 2018 Summer Festival, which will feature new productions of four operas at The Spa Little Theater in Spa State Park, along with a wide variety of free and ticketed concert events from May 26th through July 15th at venues throughout the region. Rose Theatre Kingston Announces Full Cast for CURTAINS

As part of their 10th anniversary season Rose Theatre Kingston today announces the full cast for Stephen Bill's award-winning play Curtains. Lindsay Posner directs Leo Bill (Michael), Caroline Catz (Susan), Jonathan Coy (Geoffrey), Tim Dutton (Douglas), Wendy Nottingham (Margaret), Saskia Reeves (Katherine), Sandra Voe (Ida) and Marjorie Yates (Mrs Jackson). The production opens on Wednesday 28 February, with previews from Thursday 22 February, and runs until Saturday 17 March.

Houston Ballet presents the Premiere of A HOUSTON BALLET

Due to Hurricane Harvey, Houston Ballet is unable to perform the opening two productions at the company's home venue. However, Houston Ballet is pleased to report that select performances of fall programming have been rescheduled at THE HOBBY CENTER - SAROFIM HALL. For a limited time from September 22-24 at The Hobby Center, Houston Ballet presents Sir Kenneth MacMillan's Mayerling, and will be the first North-American company to perform this compelling production. Originally premiering on February 14, 1978 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden by the Royal Ballet, Mayerling also had a triumphant American premiere in Los Angeles that same year and was the subject of a London Weekend Television film, winning the 1978 music category of the prestigious Prix Italia - the first ballet to do so.

August Performances Announced at Blue Note Hawaii

An eclectic lineup is featured this month at Blue Note Hawaii with an array of iconic national artists, local favorites and hilarious comedians. The Henry Kapono Artist to Artist Series continues with Jerry Santos of Olomana, followed by local greats Shawn Pimental and Lehua Kalima, one-man wonder Tavana, Kapono N??ili?ili, Brother Noland and of course the incomparable Willie K. The Blue Note Hawaii Comedy Series continues this month with Steve Byrne and Louie Anderson. National recording artist and GRAMMY Award-winning R&B icon Regina Belle kicks off the month and is book ended with a capella phenoms Take 6. More artists this month include bandoneon player JP Jofre and his Nuevo Tango Quartet, the amazing flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert and pop singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson. There are also two late-night shows with self-proclaimed blues road dog G Love, following his performances at the sold-out Jack Johnson concerts.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, one of the capital's most beloved annual traditions offering free performances of a Shakespearean classic to the general public each summer, will return next month with the Company's 2016 production of William Shakespeare's Othello.
