The Guido Cantelli International Conducting Competition Comes Back To Life

After a forty-year absence, and to celebrate one hundred years since the birth of Guido Cantelli - the great conductor from Novara - the Conducting Competition that was created in his memory comes to life again and takes on a strong international connotation while focusing on the younger generations. The competition has its natural home in the Teatro Coccia of Novara in Italy. Registrations for the Competition will open from 1 March to 30 April 2020: conductors of all nationalities, between the age of 18 and 35 will be eligible to participate. Candidates will undergo a preselection based on their CVs and video recordings. From 9 to 12 September the finalists will fulfill the competition's assignments from the podium of the Orchestra del Teatro Regio in Turin and will be examined by a jury made of internationally renowned artists and cultural personalities. The second and last round of the finals will take place in Novara on 13 September.

The GRAMMY AWARDS Premiere Ceremony took place at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 26, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. PT. Preceding the 62nd Annual GRAMMY AWARDS telecast, the Premiere Ceremony was hosted by two-time GRAMMY winner and current nominee Imogen Heap and featured a number of performances by current GRAMMY nominees. Performers included classical violinist Nicola Benedetti, jazz legend Chick Corea, folk music supergroup I'm With Her, West African sensation Angélique Kidjo and Best New Artist nominee Yola.

Dialogues a?" Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves, which delves into one of the hallmarks of unofficial Soviet art from the height of the Cold War, has been extended through May 17, 2020 at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers. In addition, the exhibition is spotlighted during Art After Hours: First Tuesdays on February 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. The evening includes a tour led by guest curator Ksenia Nouril, a screening of the film Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: Enter Here, and live music by Central New Jersey musician and producer Brandon Broderick. Art After Hours is free and open to the public.

 A new exhibition invites visitors to delve into one of the hallmarks of unofficial Soviet art from the height of the Cold War. Dialogues a?" Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves, which opens at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers on November 30, focuses on the two artists' work created in the format of the album: an innovative genre of visual art popularized in the 1970s by conceptual artists in Moscow. Drawn from the museum's Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union, the exhibition provides a rare opportunity to view several albums in their entirety. With loose pages of delicately colored images, often complemented by handwritten texts, an album is simultaneously a drawing and a novel, an installation and a performance.

11th Hour Theatre Company Announces 2019-2020 Season

 11th Hour Theatre Company has announced an exciting 15th Anniversary season. The only company in the city dedicated to producing all musicals has created a line-up of two Next Step Concerts of rarely produced musicals and a Mainstage musical years in the making. The season kicks off with a concert version of William Finn and James Lapine's Falsettos.  Then the company starts 2020 with a bang and a concert of Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice's Chess. FX Lands Stellar Ensemble Cast for the Drama Series Pilot GONE HOLLYWOOD, Including John Magaro and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

FX today announced the cast that will star in the pilot for Gone Hollywood. Set in 1980, Gone Hollywood centers on a group of talent agents who defect from an old-guard percentery to found their own, which skyrockets to industry dominance, disrupting the business and changing movies forever.
