The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America will continue the 2023-2024 Broadway in Miami series with the South Florida premiere of PETER PAN or a limited engagement from May 7-12, 2024.

For over a decade, The Getty has hosted its Villa Theater Lab series, an exciting forum for reinterpreting classical theater. These workshops feature new translations of Greek and Roman plays and contemporary works inspired by ancient literature. Their latest offering, Aristotle/Alexander, explores the real-life relationship between Aristotle and a teenaged Alexander the Great in 342 BC. As a former teacher of Greek Mythology and history, I could not resist asking Alex Lyras, the play’s writer and director, about his background studying the two great men, the play’s creation, and what audiences can expect to discover about these two ancient heroes.

Today’s subject Peter Anastos has been living his theatre life as one of the co-Founders of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. The all- male dance troupe has been parodying the classics of ballet for 50 years now. You can see the company in action for three performances only from April fourth through sixth in the Opera House at Kennedy Center.

Exciting news is happening in New Orleans for Tennessee Williams enthusiasts. The Fire Weeds, a new female-focused, grassroots theatre company, is currently running their debut production OUTRAGED HEARTS: THE PRETTY TRAP and INTERIOR: PANIC in association with the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival.

“Tonight’s story begins and ends at a guesthouse in Duluth, Minnesota, in the winter of 1934.” These were the opening words spoken by Dr. Walker, as he sets the scene. An evening of love, pain, suffering, interloped with a lush score based on the music of Bob Dylan. Girl from the North Country, is a dramatic musical with a book by Conor McPherson (The Weir), and songs with music and lyrics by the great Bob Dylan. The show made its Off-Broadway premiere at the Public Theatre from September 30, 2018- December 22, 2018. This transfer featured an all-American cast and was helmed after the successful run at London’s Old Vic a year prior, and following a limited 12-week run shortly thereafter at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End.

Bear Snores On is a musical adaption of the children’s book by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman, in which a group of animals are hiding from a winter storm in a sleeping bear’s den. The show, written and directed by Cush Jumbo and Katy Sechiari with music and lyrics by Harry Blake, takes audiences on a journey through Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Melissa and her musicians - JC Maillard and Thierry Arpino - performed pared down arrangements of Sondheim classics in honor of the man and his time.

Experience the electrifying rock and roll of the 1950s in GREAT BALLS OF FIRE, a theatrical concert celebrating the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis. Premiering at the Triad Theater, NYC, the show features Jason Cohen, renowned for his showboat piano style and high-energy performances.
