Principal casting has been announced for the upcoming world premiere production of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. The cast will include Robert Fairchild as Jerry Mulligan, Leanne Cope as Lise Dassin, Veanne Cox as Madame Baurel, Jill Paice as Milo Davenport, Brandon Uranowitz as Adam Hochberg, and Max Von Essen as Henri Baurel.

Lyric Opera of Chicago General Director Anthony Freud announced today that two major Broadway and TV performers – Jenn Gambatese and Edward Hibbert – have been cast in the new production and company premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's iconic The Sound of Music, to be presented at the Civic Opera House, 20 N. The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Carnegie Hall today announced cast additions for its gala benefit performance of Guys and Dolls on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Cast additions include: John Bolton (A Christmas Story the Musical, Curtains) as Angie the Ox; Robert Clohessy (HBO's Boardwalk Empire) as Lieutenant Brannigan; Colman Domingo (The Scottsboro Boys, Passing Strange) as Rusty Charlie; John Treacy Egan (The Producers,Sister Act) as Nicely-Nicely Johnson;Christopher Fitzgerald (Young Frankenstein,Wicked) as Benny Southstreet; Jayne Houdyshell (Follies, Romeo and Juliet) as General Matilda B. Cartwright; and Steve Schirripa (HBO's The Sopranos) as Big Jule. Hot Box Girls include Jenny LaRoche, Paloma Garcia-Lee, Samantha Sturm, and Katie Webber; crapshooters are Stephen Carrasco, Taurean Everett, Michaeljon Slinger, Justin Urso, and Amos Wolff. The vocal ensemble is comprised of Cree Carrico, Christine DiGiallonardo, Timothy McDevitt, Max Miller, and Joseph Torello. Allison Blackwell is also featured as Agatha. Roundabout Theatre Company has officially announced that Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will star for the first time on Broadway as 'Sally Bowles' in its upcoming production of Cabaret. She will take the stage at Studio 54 alongside Alan Cumming as the Emcee, reprising the role that won him a Tony Award in 1998.

BAM is set to present Robert Lepage's intimate theatrical work The Blue Dragon from September 18-21 at BAM Harvey Theatre. Tickets begin at $25.

Imagine a darkly ambient realm where angular architecture rises from the shadows and is adorned with three half ovals curtained in sheer white fabric. In this simplistically austere setting, every surface is painted black and gives the impression of some ambiguous but wholly recognizable cabaret. Out of the ether, six shapes emerge. In an assortment of solos and group pieces, these figures sing intensely haunting and puzzling music. Some songs are rigorously jazzy and mesmerizingly chromatic, leaping through major and minor chords with seemingly crazed affectation. Other songs are tuneful and familiar, playing off of bluesy gospel traditions that are tinged with pop sensibilities. This is the world that Adam Guettel, most widely known for the 2005 Tony Award winning musical THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, and Bit of a Stretch Theatre Company have created with the Houston premiere of MYTHS AND HYMNS.

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch has announced the company's 2013-2014 season. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.
