Broadway veteran Nancy Hess will join the Broadway cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the longest-running show in Broadway history, beginning Monday, February 9. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. and directed by Harold Prince, the musical recently celebrated an unprecedented 21 Years in New York, where it plays at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street).

Astoria Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the production of RAGTIME, a musical directed by APAC's very own Artistic Director, Tom Wojtunik. West Coast Ensemble presents the first show of their 2009 season, THE GRADUATE, adapted by Terry Johnson, based on the novel by Charles Webb, and the motion picture screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry, THE GRADUATE will be directed by Jules Aaron (Great Expectations). Marie-France Pisier will star as the feminist novelist and philosopher in the one-woman show Liaison Transatlantique: Letters of Simone de Beauvoir to Nelson Algren from September 30th through October 2nd as part of the Act French festival

The Fred Ebb Award will recognize excellence in musical theatre songwriting, by a lyricist, composer, or songwriting team that has not yet achieved significant commercial success. The award is meant to encourage and support aspiring songwriters to create new works for the musical theatre. The prize includes a $50,000 award.
