California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera are now accepting composer applications for the orchestra's highly respected and competitive Young American Composer-in-Residence program, for the period from August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2023. Described by the Mercury News as a?oea model for residency programs across the country,a?? the Young American Composer-In-Residence program was launched in 1991 and gives outstanding, emerging, young American composers a unique opportunity to write orchestral music while working with a professional orchestra and conductor over a three-year period. 

Kitchen Theatre Company, Central New York's Off Broadway theatre, announces its 2019-20 season: seven exciting productions that explore what it means to be part of a family, and finding both our inner and outer strength. Arts on the Horizon, a non-verbal theatre company for children ages zero to six, is excited to present its 7th season. As the first theatre company in the United States to stage performances specifically geared towards this age group, Arts on the Horizon shows are performed solely with sound, movement, and live music to engage children at any stage of language development and also children whose first language may not be English.

The Blank Theatre in Hollywood will be accepting script submissions from July 25 through August 13 for its 2019-2020 Living Room Series, which begins its 29th season in September.

The Royal Players announces its 2019-2020 season!

Ucross, a prestigious artist residency program and creative laboratory for the arts in northeast Wyoming, premiered its "Ucross Spotlight" series on Wednesday, June 19, with a bold, intimate conversation between playwright alums Michael R. Jackson, Billy Porter, and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, as well as choreographer Raja Feather Kelly on the themes present in Jackson's provocative new musical A Strange Loop. The panel took place at the world-famous Playwrights Horizons theater following a performance of the show, with major themes of the conversation including reconciling with religion as a member of the LGBTQ community and "watering down" queer art for straight audiences. It is the first of many planned Ucross Spotlight events, which will celebrate its alumni's art and offer a first-hand look at their creative process.

Liam Scarlett's new production of Swan Lake for The Royal Ballet opened in May 2018, to great critical and audience acclaim. The production also received an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, recognising John Macfarlane's exceptional set and costume designs. Ahead of the first revival of this production in March 2020, Oberon Books and The Royal Ballet present an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at Swan Lake, featuring an array of photographs taken by acclaimed performing arts photographer Bill Cooper. Charting the creative process from design and studio rehearsal through to stage performance, the book beautifully captures all the spectacle and excitement of the production, as well as the backstage craftsmanship and creative vision breathing new life into this most iconic of classical ballets.

Miami New Drama continues its mission to present innovative theater as diverse and dynamic as Miami itself in 2019-2020. Created with the support of Studio R&D, the theatre's incubator for new plays, Aspen Ideas probes the nature of ideas conceived by the wealthy and elite to solve the world's ills. Kitson famously made his DC debut at Studio Theatre in 2017, his first time outside of New York and a rare US engagement. He returns with a meditation on accumulation, material possessions, and the value we assign to them.

Carnegie Hall today announced the 2019-2020 season of Carnegie Hall Citywide, a free concert series that brings music to all five boroughs of New York City. I must applaud Everyman Theatre's Artistic Director Vince Lancisi for having the brilliant idea of ending its season with two plays by Caleen Sinnette Jennings in repertory: QUEENS GIRL IN THE WORLD and QUEENS GIRL IN AFRICA. What a genius!

 Theatrical Outfit (TO) held its annual fundraising gala, 'Our Luckie Stars,' on Saturday, April 27th at its home, The Balzer Theater at Herren's on Luckie Street in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The event honored long-time TO patrons Doug and Florida Ellis and featured silent and live auctions, wonderful food, and exciting entertainment from familiar TO artists. The evening was a celebration of the theatre's mission to provide world-class conversation-starting theatre to inspire a compassionate, joyful, and just community. The gala raised over $123,000, breaking its fundraising goal and surpassing last year's success.

Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced South Coast Repertory's 13-play, 2019-20 season, which builds on the theatre's 56-year foundation of stellar artistry. The offerings range from a two-person show to a large-cast musical and represent a kaleidoscope of classics and popular hits, along with four world premieres and three shows for young audiences and families. The Wilma Theater has announced its 2019-2020 Season, featuring a lineup of new and innovative plays from some of the most exciting emerging voices in the field of theater. The season begins with a limited run of a world premiere stage adaptation of Etel Adnan's famous poem There, which will be co-presented with FringeArts in the 2019 Fringe Festival, co-created by Wilma Artistic Director Blanka Zizka and world-renowned visual artist Rosa Barba.
