This summer, Chicago will be first to experience a reimagined production of The Who's Tommy when the original creators reunite at Goodman Theatre. Sarasota Opera has announced the lineup for the 2023 Summer Classic Movies at the Opera House. The Classic Movies at the Opera House series featuring many beloved movies will open on Friday, May 12th at 7:30 pm with 2001: A Space Odyssey. Throughout the summer and into the fall, featured movies will include films ranging from the 1930's to the 1990's. Tickets will be $12 and will go on sale starting on Wednesday, May 3. Additional movie titles are detailed below.  

I interviewed Tony Award winner Gavin Creel about his experience as The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince in the national tour of Stephen Sondheim’s INTO THE WOODS. The production started as a City Center Encores staging and later transferred to Broadway. Now, Chicago audiences can see the tour — with some of the original Broadway company, including Gavin himself— through May 7.

The special two-hour concert event follows Wynonna’s history-making homecoming return to the Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), recreating The Judds’ 1991 farewell tour for a special televised event featuring Wynonna’s tourmates Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Martina McBride.
