Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announced today the programming for the 2012-2013 season at The Boston Opera House.
Fresh from its appearances at the Chicago Dancing Festival on August 25, Houston Ballet opens its 2012-13 season with artistic director Stanton Welch's signature work Madame Butterfly on a program with his one-act ballet Clear, set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) , running tonight, September 6 - 16.

Barcelona Ballet (formerly known as Corella Ballet) returns to New York City Center April 17 - 20 for a second engagement following several U.S. tours. Artistic Director Ángel Corella will dance with his company in the world premiere of Palpito, a full-company ballet by Ángel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez. The program also features Clark Tippet's Bruch Violin Concerto and Christopher Wheeldon's For 4. New York City Center is located on West 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
For its spring program, Smuin Ballet will present the West Coast premiere of Swipe by Val Caniparoli, internationally renowned choreographer and principal character dancer at San Francisco Ballet. Smuin audiences will also be treated to the World Premiere of Through by Ma Cong (French Twist), an uplifting work set to music by Academy Award-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. The bill will also include Michael Smuin's elegant Symphony of Psalms, a breathtaking classical piece set to Stravinsky's score. Smuin's spring program will play at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts April 27-May 6, Walnut Creek's Lesher Center for the Arts May 18-19, and the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts May 23-27.
