From Dawn till Night (The Earth is Uninhabitable like the Moon) is a multimedia investigation of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1978 film In A Year With 13 Moons. In this apocalyptical tale of identity, love and death, a man woman reevaluates his her place in the world as the past closes in and the quest for humanity becomes increasingly difficult.
The world premiere of A Killing Snow by Paul Ciufo officially opens the 36th Blyth Festival season on June 25. The festival will start with jazz flutist Dave Valentin and conga legend Candido from Jan. 19 - 20. Trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and his Latin jazz group will finish up the week from Jan. 21 - 24. Argentinian saxophonist Gato Barbieri will play from Jan. 25 - 27, and percussionist Poncho Sanchez will finish up the festival from Jan. 28 - 31.

Hanks has served as the Honorary Chair of the Festival's fundraising efforts to ?re-imagine' the Hanna as a new permanent home and to establish an endowment for the classic theater company since August of 2008.

This year, the prestigious National Black Theatre Festival? will honor Jubilee Theatre Artistic Director Ed Smith with the festival's first annual Lloyd Richards' Director's Award. Smith is receiving this award because of his significant contributions to black theatre and American theatre in general. The festival will be held from August 3 through 8, 2009 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The theme for this year's festival remains the same as the past ten festivals: An International Celebration and Reunion of Spirit. Mr. Smith will be presented with the award at the Opening Night Gala Awards Banquet, which will be held on Monday, August 3.
