Mosaic Theater Company of DC announces key casting update for the regional premiere of Philip Dawkins' groundbreaking, Joseph Jefferson Award-winning CHARM (January 5-29, 2017). After conversations with lead artists and important feedback from members of the local and national transgender community, the principal role of 'Mama Darleena Andrews,' the inimitable transgender African American woman at the helm of an etiquette class for transgender and gender nonconforming youth, will be played by B'Ellana Duquesne (The T Party). KenYatta Rogers, originally slated for the role, will understudy Duquesne, and will support the production as Associate Director alongside director Natsu Onoda Power.

Palm Beach Gardens will add live theatre to its ever-growing cultural landscape when the PGA Arts Center opens its doors in late January. Veteran producers Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow have taken a multi-year lease on the PGA Cinemas, located at 4076 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, and are in the process of converting two of the building's six auditoria to accommodate live productions. The two theatres will seat 260 and 280 patrons respectively. They plan to adapt a third space - which will seat approximately 160, and be available for rentals - within the next year.
All told, this is a fantastic production and definitely one of my favorites of the 200+ shows I saw in 2016 - whether in the DC Metro Area, New York, or anywhere else.
