THE STOPS Makes Chicago Debut At The Skokie Theatre 6/5-26

Producers of the three-year running critically acclaimed BAB FAB, Three Cat Productions, present their inaugural theatrical production with the award winning musical 'The Stops', written by Eric Lane Barnes and Drew Emery. Jason Paul Smith makes his Chicago directing debut with this production. 'The Stops' stars Kevin Bishop, Paul Motondo, and Steve Kimborough, 2010 Jeff Award Nominee for Best Actor in a Supportig Role in 'Poseidon! An Upside Down Musical". Nick Sula, 2010 Non-Equity Jeff Award nominee for Music Direction in "The Glorious Ones", is the Musical Director. Jesse Pierce is the Choreographer. 'The Stops' will be playing every Saturday in June (June 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th), at 8pm only at Skokie Theatre Music Foundation.

Today, we are taking a look at multi-Tony-nominated Broadway leading lady Sherie Rene Scott and the original cast recording of her (mostly) one-woman show EVERYDAY RAPTURE, currently on Broadway. In addition to being nominated this season for Best Actress, Ms. Scott is also nominated in the Best Book of A Musical category (along with collaborator Dick Scanlan) for this autobiographical musical tracing her conversion from Mormonism to Mermanism (as in Ethel) and detailing her time spent on Broadway from TOMMY until now. From Sally Simpson to the stage version of herself, Sherie Rene Scott can hold an audience‘s attention like few other performers, evident everywhere on this album. But is that enough?

FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE, take over the Grandel Stage on March 24th The Black Rep opens the third mainstage production of Season 33. The show features the music of legendary horn player Louis Jordan. Lead character Nomax, whose girlfriend has left him and who is without money, finds Big Moe, Four-Eyed Moe, Eat Moe, No Moe, and Little Moe emerging from his 1930's-style radio to comfort him. They sing the hit songs of songwriter and saxophonist Louis Jordan, whose new slant on jazz paved the way for rock and roll in the 1950s.

'Leslie Uggams: Uptown Downtown' will play through Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the famed night spot. "Idol" tonight saw the last separation between the men and women, with the top eight gentlemen performing before learning to the top twelve. The guys gave a solid show, showing versatility and an ability to adapt songs to their personal styles. It seems that, tonight, the guys as a group gave an overall better performance than the women did last night, in a surprisingly strong showing.
