Axis Company today announces its 20th Anniversary Season, which kicks off a bold new work: the world premiere of Strangers in the World, written and directed by Axis Artistic Director Randy Sharp (March 13-April 6). The company celebrates two decades of making raw, unblinking theater in its intimate West Village space with a lineup that exemplifies Axis's body of work-its artistry in exploring dark moments in America's past, and its mastery at staging moving first-person narratives. 

Some of the most renowned acts in reggae will make their way to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino's 2019 Concerts on the Beach Series sponsored by MillerCoors and Pepsi. Ziggy Marley and Michael Franti & Spearhead take the stage Saturday, June 15 at 9 p.m., Iration with Pepper and Katastro will entertain beachgoers Saturday, Aug. 24 at 8:30 p.m. and Rebelution with Collie Buddz mark the end of August with a special two-day performance Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Schimmel Center at Pace University continues its 2018-19 series of World Music and Dance with Ireland and America, a musical retrospective of Irish American history performed by Larry Kirwan, co-founder and frontman of the New York City-based Celtic rock band Black 47, on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 7:30pm. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and author Ayad Akhtar's (Arena's Disgraced) timely tale Junk. Inspired by the real junk bond giants of the 1980s, Akhtar explores how the riveting, hostile takeover of a family-owned manufacturing company paved the way to expose the rise of greed, power, race and wealth that led to reshaping the rules of Wall Street and the world. Directed by Jackie Maxwell, Junk runs April 5 - May 5, 2019 in the Fichandler Stage.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the second and third rounds of the 2018 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,114,000 allow 27 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.
