While ostensibly about grief and how we see the world, 'The Upstairs Department' is really more about the central sibling relationship, about how two people can drift apart and find their way back to each other along their journeys to better understand themselves.

Virginia Repertory Theatre presents a new play, Bonnie and Claire, which was meant to have its world premiere in May of 2020, but COVID forced us to cancel.

To celebrate the incredible cinema New York African Film Festival brings to BAM each year during DanceAfrica, the nation's largest festival dedicated to African dance and music taking place May 27—30 at BAM looks back at the decade-plus history of FilmAfrica with a series of recent films and hits from past festivals.

The Human Race embraces its mission of “exploring the human condition” in its 36th season by presenting themes of family, national security, dementia, creativity, race, and autism. Honoring its mission by “promoting enlightenment, inclusion and understanding,” the season includes two World Premieres (one play and one musical), a regional premiere, a Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play, and the return of a favorite. 

Producers Brian Anthony Moreland, Sonia Friedman and Tom Kirdahy announced additional cast for the revival of August Wilson’s seminal, Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Piano Lesson, the first Broadway revival in more than 30 years since the play’s Main Stem premiere in 1990.

The tour is visiting Prospect Park in Brooklyn on June 16th, HISTORY in Toronto on June 17th, The House of Blues in Boston on June 18th, and Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on June 23th before wrapping up in Los Angeles at Youtube Theater on June 25th. Check out the full list of tour dates now!

American Shakespeare Center continues its 2022 season with a summer slate of plays that explore the connections between Shakespeare classics and contemporary theatre. Added to the list of previously announced titles will be the Antoinette Nwandu's groundbreaking drama Pass Over, which thrilled audiences on Broadway in summer 2021.

Irish Arts Center will present Mufutau Yusuf's Òwe, the artist's full-length NYC choreographic debut. With Òwe—“proverb” in the Yoruba language—the Nigeria-born Yusuf seeks to decode his personal identity through the lens of the ancestral, in an evocative confluence of personal, ritual, and digital archives.

GHISLAINE – PARTNER IN CRIME features revealing, emotional interviews with Maxwell’s siblings Ian, Kevin and Isabel Maxwell; her friends; legal experts; and her alleged victims. The docuseries unravels the shocking pyramid scheme of sexual abuse that Maxwell controlled, and uncovers what really happened at Epstein’s properties.

Playwrights Horizons today announced its 2022–2023 season. Brought together amidst the easing of a reality-altering pandemic —during which desire for a “return to normal” began to feel at once futile and shortsighted—the lineup consists of five works that consider and radically challenge the very idea of normalcy.

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.

Quantum Theatre, in collaboration with Chatham Baroque and supported by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will present Idaspe by Riccardo Broschi at the Byham Theater October 7–15, 2022 in its first full production since 1730.

Margie Mays is based in Los Angeles, California. She is a singer, songwriter, actor, and host. She appeared on seasons 2 and 3 of American Idol on ABC. She also teaches voice and piano lessons and wants to aspire young artist and performers. Currently, Margie is playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical in the heart of Hollywood at the Hollywood Majestic.

The Tank announced today that tickets are on sale now for their next mainstage productions, Filiki Eteria and Homecoming: Dance. Both productions will take place in their Proscenium Theater (312 W 36th St, New York, NY, 10018).

Due to strong demand, TheatreSquared's production of Tiger Style!, an acclaimed new sibling comedy by Mike Lew that puts the 'fun' in dysfunctional, will extend to add an additional seven shows during its run. Northwest Arkansas audiences have been enthusiastic about the show, directed by Chongren Fan.

Two shows have been added to the After Hours Concert Series 2022 lineup at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia.  Brothers Osborne will perform on Thursday, July 14th, and Incubus with very special guests Sublime With Rome and The Aquadolls will play Saturday, July 30th. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM. A limited number of Early Bird General Admission tickets will be available for just $26 until March 24 while supplies last.

From high-stepping and fan-favorite musicals to compelling award-winning dramas, Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF has announced its upcoming productions for the 2022-23 season. 

The Hangar Theatre has announced the first ever Hangar Flight Test, a series of concert stagings of original musicals in development.  The 2022 series will consist of two workshop productions which Hangar audiences will be among the first to experience.  Writers and artistic teams will invite audiences to give feedback and become part of the development process as they prepare their scripts and scores for full scale production.

Chatback Theatre's coming-of-age hit If This is Normal, will be published by Methuen next month and will be available at all venues during their UK tour this April. The news comes the team  announce an exciting new stop at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre.

Chatback Theatre has announced the cast of the coming-of-age hit If This is Normal, which is heading on a UK tour this April.  Critically acclaimed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 and VAULT Festival in 2020, the show is set in the no-man’s land between childhood and adulthood, complicated by unfiltered access to technology and pop-feminism.
