Review: BASTIAN BAKER, SSE Hydro, Glasgow

Switzerland native Bastian Baker has managed to secure himself quite the gig- a worldwide tour with Canadian superstar Shania Twain. Although he's an established act in Europe (appearing on Dancing With The Stars and The Voice) this is his first time performing in Scotland.

Opening with "All Around Us" Baker is a quietly confident performer. With a stunning voice and heartfelt lyrics he commanded the attention of the audience that trickled into the venue for his early time slot.

In between songs Baker was engaged with the audience and shared his experiences of his first trip to Scotland. As one of his favourite artists, Paolo Nutini, is from the area he burst into a couple of lines of "Last Request" which went down a treat with the Glasgow crowd.

With songs that wouldn't be out of place in the Bluebird Cafe, Baker managed to hold the attention of the arena throughout his short set.

Opening up for an artist like Shania Twain is no easy feat but Bastian Baker certainly won over the Glasgow audience.

Bastian Baker is on tour with Shania Twain until December 22nd.
