BollyPop Brings Energy, Culture And Curiosity To The Ring Around The Rose Stage Repertory Dance Theatre is excited to bring a new artist to the Ring Around the Rose stage for the opening performance of the 21st anniversary season. Sarika Nayak and her fellow artists will present BollyPop! on September 8, 2018 at 11 am in the Rose Wagner's intimate Black Box Theatre.

The 2018-2019 Ring Around the Rose season is part of RDT's year-long initiative, MANIFEST DIVERSITY. RDT will highlight ethnic community groups from various cultural art forms along with some old favorites throughout the entire Ring Around the Rose season.

Sarika Nayak is a trained classical dancer from India. For the past twelve years she has studied the classical art form of Odissi, which is one of the seven classical dance forms that originates from the Hindu temples of the Eastern region of India. In addition, she practices and teaches Bollywood and BollyPop, a program originated in Los Angeles by Aakansha Maheshwari. Nayak teaches this fun and upbeat class each week at RDT's Dance Center on Broadway and will be holding a special workshop with Maheshwari herself on September 16.

BollyPop is a lifestyle program that brings together fitness and choreography in a way that leads to immense joy. People of all ages are welcome to join the dance party with music that rejuvenates the mind, builds strength for the body and brings positive change!

As is the case with all Ring Around the Rose shows, the performance will be "wiggle-friendly" and interactive. Children and families alike won't want to miss this fun and unique show!
